We were impressed from the moment we arrived. The reception was warm and friendly and our room spacious, clean and comfortable, The hotel is a lovely old Villa with some very striking features. The ceiling in the dining room is absolutely wonderful! The food is excellent, truly Italian and very fresh. Service excellent too! The house wine is extremely good value. Breakfast too was very good, being typical Italian continental style with lots of local sweet and savoury options.

The hotel is family owned and operated and everyone makes a real effort to ensure that guests are well looked after.

Highly recommended. A great location for visiting Tuscany, Pisa and Florence.

I was only there for an overnight for business. Did not get much of a change to explore the area but the views and ambiance are incredible.
Hard to find. It is off Castel Vecchio look for the sings, up the unpaved road and there you will find this gem.
Restaurant is good, rooms are ok, bathrooms are updated.

Service is excellent as the staff is very welcoming and remembered us from our honeymoon with a hug and a hello. We had a bottle of champagne in the room when we arrived, bottled water and a bottle of Villa Sonnino wine as we departed. The room was again large and accommodating with a beautiful view of the vineyards from the oversized window. The dinner in the lower restaurant should be a Michelin starred restaurant as the food and presentation were that good. The breakfast is typical European but with added Italian favorites and hand made expresso/cappucino. The small chapel is adorned with sculptures and frescos found as in Rome as are the grounds as beautiful as well. This was our third stay and will not be the last as this is by far our favorite place to stay when in Tuscany.

Room Tip: Does not mater as they are all good!

This hotel is amazingly well equipped, professionally managed and has amazing charm and feel of Italian Villa.
Staff is extremely professional and hardworking. Since we arrived late, restaurant was open until 00:30.
Food and wine were exceptional.
Breakfast is not going to win any special award for variety and assortment, but again, it was very well organized and everything tasted good.

To sum up, if you have a car and traveling to Firenze, this hotel is excellent choice.

We visited Villa Sonnino after cancelling a reservation at a nearby hotel, which failed to meet up to our standards. We were impressed that upon arrival, we were greeted by a member of staff, who was clearly welcoming and willing to help us. Fortunately, the Villa had a room available and we were impressed by its quality (for the same price as the other hotel). Villa Sonnino has a charm all its own and although previous comments have been made about its sedateness, we enjoyed our stay there. The room was spacious, clean and comfortable. We dined there for two nights and the meals (and service) were more than satisfactory. We particularly enjoyed the starter of Tuscan crostinis, meats and cheeses. Breakfast was fairly standard but more than adequate. It appeared to us that the Villa catered more for business people than tourists, but that should not be a deterrent. It is extremely well placed for both Florence and Pisa Airport and is very good value for money. Would we stay again? Yes.
