Every time i come to the island, I will spend at least one evening sitting by the lighthouse watching the sun set behind the hills behind Lixouri. Even with a few other people there (which is only occasional), it is incredibly relaxing to sit and just watch the sea. With views out to sea, over mountains, and to the coves around the corner, there's nothing like it.
Last year i was lucky enough to see bioluminescence from the lighthouse, though i haven't seen it since - I'll be looking out for it next year! You need a couple of very still days for this to happen though, and on an island like this, where the wind is funnelled between the mountains, it's pretty rare. Either sitting on the lighthouse steps, on the rocks in front of it, or the benches along the path leading to the lighthouse, you'll get spectacular sunset photos (just google for some examples)!

We saw this from the ferry and decided to have a look. It is just a small lighthouse and has graffiti all over it.

Its not worth going out if you way for but the view of the bay is nicw

Lovely view of this when you get the ferry between Lixouri/Argostoli. Suggestion, maybe a bigger light is needed as at night its not as bright as I thought a lighthouse light would be.

We drove some 30 km to see the lighthouse. Really not worth it. Covered in graffiti. Obviously a memorial to some people. Shipwrecked or soldiers of some war. But no one seems to care anymore. A coat of paint wouldn’t break the local economy and the experience would be all the better for it.
We then tried to snorkel off the nearby beaches. Not an experience I would recommend. Loads of plastic and rubbish in the sea devoid of any living creatures on the day we went in, when we left the sea there was a certain smell of sewage coming from it. The whole experience I would not recommend

My wife and I walked to this lighthouse from Argostoli. Mostly it was a pleasant walk through pine woods, providing shade and soft ground, adjacent to the coast.
The lighthouse itself was a little disappointing with some graffiti. But several people were making use of the shade it was providing and swimming in the areas around it.
