" Very poor service. We check-in by around 5pm. We were allotted deluxe room 217 but later found AC was not working. Switch boards and electric connections at the headrest of the Bedding was loose and giving a lot of electric sparks. That experience was really scary that anytime an electric fire could happen. Hotel staff shifted us to room 215 which was smaller one, relatively. However in the middle of night AC broke down in that room too. Staff at reception was irresponsible. No response from the staff or maintenance team in spite of giving repeated complaints to reception. Bathrooms are shabby and leaking pipe fittings. Emergency Evacuation plan shown on room no 215 was that of Room number 212. This is to be looked at as a major safety concern. Staff at restaurant was cordial and food served was good. Web site of the hotel says pick up and drop service from railway station however they refused to offer this service saying vehicle is available but drivers are not available. On repeated requests, hotel staff agreed to arrange taxi from railway station for whopping charge of Rs 250. We could take an auto-rickshaw for just Rs 30 from railway station. Hotel misguided us on the food policy. Initially they told there was complimentary breakfast but later at the time of check out they charged us with breakfast bills. In fact they enclosed breakfast food bills printed subsequently and not signed by us. That was a disheartening stay at rainbow suites. "

This hotel is located close to the kannur railway station and is well maintained as far as rooms as concerned. Offers ok value for money however 2 points, 1. It's kitchen is located within premises and often the kitchen cooking smell makes it way to 3rd and 2nd floor balcony. 2. Not a great place if you are a fuzzy traveller not ready for a compromise on hot water timing etc.

Modernist hotel, in atrium style. Everything worked extremely well - administration a bit labyrinthine but that seems to be the way with booking online v. dealing with the people on the ground. Room very clean and well-appointed, and a superb breakfast ( which seems to be included with most 'packages'). No view whatsoever, whatever booking.com or the others say, and don't believe the 'opposite the railway station' address - it's not! If you're arriving by train just get an auto-rickshaw there - 20/30 rupees. Decent 'permit' bar at the Broad Bean (yes!) hotel - auto drivers know it, it's by the bus station ( also worth a visit!).

I am utterly disappointed with the service of this hotel, including the attitude of the service staff at the front desk.

We had a long drive from Kochi to Kannur and when we arrived at Hotel Rainbow Suites at 12am, we expected a quick check-in. But the front desk questioned on our booking that we had via Make My Trip. We had the confirmation booking with payment done and despite that confirmation, the staffs insisted that there was no such booking confirmed in their system and instead of helping further to check, they pushed the problem to us to check with Make My Trip directly.

At such a late hour, the staff should have arranged for a room first and instead we ended up 1hr at reception just negotiating on a room and the booking. We also had to make another payment as it was very late and we had lost all energy talking to uncompassionate and service disoriented people. I have been to many hotels and never experienced such inconvenience in getting a room especially when booking was made in advance with full payment.

This is a very disappointing and unhappy experience. We will think twice of booking this hotel again.
