Raandhal in Malayalam means lantern. The first thing that strikes you as you enter the restaurant is that there is a fair amount of parking in front. There is a security guard at the entrance. The Kerala style building with red-tiled sloping roof looks good. It is spacious inside and the seating is well laid out. There are lanterns placed at several places.
We went there for lunch and the lanterns were not lit. We ordered Nasrani chicken curry, Nadan fish curry and Kerala porottas. Both the curries had a coconut based taste. The fish curry had also probably used Kodampuli (also known as Malabar Tamarind). It had used Kingfish and I liked it better than the chicken curry. The chicken was soft and well-cooked.
Raandhal claims that they have free wi-fi but it did not work when I tried it. Service was good but the waiter forgot to smile.
