We had a fantastic nine nights at Ezhara with the lovely hostess Hyacinth. She made what was already an idylic location just perfect.
We had such a laugh exchanging stories with her other lovely guests.
Nothing was too much trouble for Hyacinth and it was a wrench to leave in the end. We would not hesitate in returning.

Seek no more, you have found the place!
It doesn’t get much better: the location, the house, the food, the atmosphere, and last but not least the lovely hostess Hyacinth and her husband George. You get (more than) value for your money.
You are also guarantied very nice guests to share your stay with, it seems like everybody turns in to nice people, no matter what they were before! Seems like all stress, worries, frustration just disappear the moment you arrive here.
If you are new to India this is the place to start your holiday in a relaxed way, Hyacinth is
a goldmine of information with a very good knowledge of personally travelling all over India,
and more than willing to help organizing your further trip plans. (she takes no commission in any way)
English is her first language.
Bu it is also the place to finish your India trip, just to relax, contemplate, digest and share all your experiences, in good company with Hyacinth and the other guests.
If you are a budget backpacker you'll have the most comfortable stay (and 3 huge delicious meals a day) of your whole trip at the same price as a lousy hotel room in Mumbai.
And it is the perfect place for a long time traveler, or low budget backpacker, if you need a “holiday from India”, to recover from the sometime crazy/frustrating/lovely India, with pollution, noise, dirty restaurants, rooms and scams, you will regain your love for India, (and your lost weight!) before you get back on the track again.
The house is an over 100 year old house, and has great atmosphere and lots of character. It is clean, well kept and blissfully quiet, (except when the local mosque calls to prayer. On the good side, being in a Muslim area you are free of all the night barking dogs you have all over Goa)
The house has been modernized with huge bathroom (With solar energy-had my first hot shower in a month in India)
Rooms are small, but you probably don’t spend much time there besides sleeping in them, and there is plenty of space to relax in and around the house. There is a well stocked library.
No A/C but the rooms are all at the back, facing east, with small windows, so they don’t get that hot, there is also a fan in the room. The top floor rooms are of course the hottest, but also have the best view from the balcony. Like every there else in India the beds are on the hard side!
There are plug-in mosquito killers and sprays in rooms if you need them.
No mosquito nets for bed, but screens for the windows. Very few mosquitoes anyway, in the evening Hyacinth burns coils outside. (You take all your meals outside in the shade)
Meals are served to all guests together. Mealtimes are (tried) planned according to the guests plans for the day by Hyacinth, who also go out of her way to fulfill everybody’s wishes and favorite dishes. Vegetarian/non vegetarian,spicy/ non spicy.
The food is Keralan, when it is best! Of course you can have “egg, toast, butter and jam” for breakfast, but why? when instead you can have beetroot masala dosa, poori and fried banana coconut pancakes.
If you want to save money, or the rooms are full, a tent is available on top of the roof, big enough for 2 people. There is a little roof over the tenth, protecting against the worst sun/rain. It gets hot during the day, but plenty of common space in and around the house. Nice cool nights and a fantastic view.
The beach to the left, and right in front of the house is rocky outcrops coves, to this you have a beautiful view from the house. You can swim there in a kind of pool between the rocks (full of green mussels the local people collect every day) if you go 100 meter to the right the beach is rock free, wide and several km of nearly deserted golden sand beaches. A mixture of palm trees and other trees, but not really any shade. The whole beach is remarkably clear of litter.
On the first day swimming I saw dolphins, and eagles diving for fish a few meters away.
The sea is usually calm in the morning but can get rough during the day, with the waves breaking near the beach, fun to play in, or you can make a quick dash out and swim in calm water.
The locals are extremely friendly and welcoming. No beggars/ hawkers, please help to make it stay like that.
You can reach a tiny town with a few shops in 20 min’s walk. When I was there the last week in January, I was lucky to watch a Theyam festival going on for 2 days in the local temple. But Hyacinth can find out where other rituals are happening if nothing in the town temple. Nothing ever seems too much trouble for her!

I was looking for a peaceful place to write a exam paper, and I really found peace - Ezhare Beach House is like a dream. I spend 5 fantastic days at the beace in company of wonderful Hyacinth. I woke up early in the morning walked along the beautiful beach, did yoga on the rooftop, read on the terrease, swam in the sea many times a day, ate the most delicious food, and fell a sleep to the sound of the waves. I could not have found better place to relax and study (+ very good wifi access). Thank you Hyacinth!

Wonderful Location with a Special service of the owner, Family Feeling - it is extremely easy to settle in and feel gorgeous. The Food is outrageous - fantastic. For everyone who Loves Peace, silence and happines recommendable.
The Sea Side is wonderful, lang sandy beaches, palm trees and less tourists. It is a very Silent Place.
