We arrived at Diani Sea Lodge after an amazing four days on safari, not quite sure what to expect. However, from the moment we arrived we were warmly welcomed by the hotel's amazing staff and for the next 11 days we had the most relaxing and memorable stay. The hotel is lovely - it is a 3 star hotel so the rooms are basic but everything is clean and tidy. The staff work so hard to make your stay special and to meet any request you have.

Food - there is an excellent buffet style restaurant that caters for every need - we were spolit for choice every meal time.
Entertainment - we don't normally take part in hotel's entertainment but the animation team were so lovely, not pushy at all, that we found ourselves joining in most things.
Rooms - comfortable and clean. A good sized bathroom with shower and a wardrobe area. A safe was included as well. Hairdryers were avaliable in the rooms and fresh mineral water brought to your room everyday
Beach - the white sands and the sea are beautiful. Yes, the beach boys are persistant, but as other people have said - be polite and say no, thank you and they will leave you alone. The more sun tan you have, the more they will leave you alone!
Facilities - the swimming pool was beautiful and the free sunbeds and beach towel facilities were fantastic. Not many other hotels along this beach had sea views from the sun beds. The pool bar was great, open 10am until midnight with all inclusive drinks including cocktails - Palm Breeze cocktail - fantastic!! Also an amazing massage for 500 Kenyan shillings - the equivalent of around £4 - Bliss!

From the hotel we also took part in several excursions, we booked through our holiday rep, but you could easily find out about similar excursions through the safari companies around the hotel as well. We took a day going snorkelling from an traditional African boat (Dhow), seeing dolphins, amazing fish, coral and octopus with an amazing lunch at the island of Wasini. We also went to Mombasa one day and looked around the old town - well worth doing.

All in all we had an amazing time. Kenyan people survive on their tourism economy and desperately need people to go there on holiday - we would definately return to Kenya and this hotel again.

my partner and i have just come back from a 2 week stay at diani sea lodge. We did read all the reviews from here which stated that it was all good and brilliant. They couldnt possibly have stayed in the same complex they we did, it was awful.I could right pages and pages on here about how bad the room the food complex entertainment the kids club but i simply dont have the time. The only good thing was that the staff did there best with what they had to work with.I will let the photos do the talking.Bitterly disappointed.

We found this hotel's previous positve reviews accurate.
Staff amazingly friendly & willing, food superb & plenty of it (forget what reviews have said about small portions, not apparent with us), rooms very clean.
Hotel is not able to cash travellers cheques - you will need to book a taxi at reception at a cost of approx £10 return to go to Imperial Bank in Diani - 3km. Barclays bank - 2km - has a ATM which accepts VISA & Mastercard, for instant cash with a £1.75 fee. Good exchange rate.
We booked Safari with WT Safaris, via Ali on the beach. He will find you no problem - if you look pale with no sun tan he knows you've just arrived! We 1st emailed WT for a price, before travelling; and took it with us. Their price was cheaper than the starting price offered on the beach, but Ali honoured the quoted price. Approx £275 for 2 nights Tsavo East & Ambolseli - fantastic trip. 1st class lodge & camp for overnight stays.
Hotel organises visits each week to the Diani Orphanage. There are approx 40 children cared for there, all very happy. Go prepared with exercise books & pencils, small sized clothing up to age 10. They also need money which is dealt with on the visit via donations & even sponsorship.
If you need to check in return flights, you will need to go to the local internet cafe at the shopping centre - 2km - we walked along the beach to sister hotel, centre is just opposite hotel entrance. There is no internet access at hotel. It cost us approx 85p including printing boarding cards.
Our only downside on the whole holiday was Pollmans, our holiday rep company, which Hayes & Jarvis use. We found them unreliable, & their Safari trips far more expensive than WT. We had a 2.30am return pick upfor our return flight which failed to arrive - not a good start to our long journey home.
