Of course the resort food is good and hassle free but sometimes it is nice to get out there and try a real local place. And no, they will not have everything on the menu but that just shows that produce comes in fresh (and that they don’t have a freezer). So... we had grilled white snapper, prawns, calamari and lobster. Coconut rice and surprisingly tasty roast potatoes with some tomato coconut sauce. Real good ambiance (the place was full) and good service (please give people some time to cook from scratch!). The phone number you will find on google is the owner’s and it helps ordering in advance. Go try it! BTW, you will be tempted to go to the place that is next door and on the beach... believe me, food at Colobus Shade is better!

Colobus Shade doesn't really have an extensive menu, it's basically a seafood restaurant providing meals from the seafood they were able to catch that day. As the seafood runs out they cross out the dish from that days menu.

The seafood is accompanied by several side dishes that are quite basic which includes coleslaw, potatoes and rice.

Very simple food, cooked very well. Limited food and bar selection.

I have never tasted such deliciously presented char grilled prawns in all my life! Our sea-food platter for two consisting of kalamari, red snapper and king prawns, was served with very tasty side dishes too. It more than made up for the location, set a row back from the beach, overlooking some laundry laid out on the grass.
Efficient, gracious service under a small, clean and intimate thatched roof. Perfectly African. And exceptional value for money.
