When we saw this cottage offered, we thought it seemed too good to be true. It turns out it really is that good, and it really is true! We were very comfortable in Meri Cottage - ample room for the six of us, with a lovely terrace round the back.

Everything that we needed was provided - well equipped kitchen, comfy sofas and comfy beds. I would strongly recommend Meri Cottage.

“Great village, great house”
Reviewed 6 June 2014 for a stay in May 2014

We stayed in Hartington with our 2 adult children. The village was beautiful with a lovely atmosphere, 2 great traditional pubs and incredibly beautiful walking and cycling tracks on our doorstep. Meri cottage was perfect. It was an old cottage, and we loved its antiquity as well as comfort. It was roomy, well positioned, very clean and well appointed. beds were comfortable and each bedroom a good size. It had a lovely garden which we were determined to use despite some challenges from the weather. Perhaps for we visitors from overseas a little more information on the mysteries of English appliances and recycling routines would have helped, but we would revisit in a heartbeat!

Liked best: A well maintained heritage cottage in a great location
Liked least: The key pickup procedure (posting) worked out but I was rather anxious about this and think a better method could be used

“Cosy, spacious, comfortable cottage, right in centre of village.”
Reviewed 24 May 2014 for a stay in May 2014

The cottage looked small from the outside but extended greatly to the rear, making it acatually very spacious. The front bedroom was huge and the rear bedroom had a wonderful french door that opened out on to a pretty, decked cottage garden, which we loved sitting out in. Although the cottage was warm, we had the log fire going some nights. Fantastic to sit in the cosy living room, fire and candles (provided) while watching the world go by. the village of Hartington is a delight, with lots of good shops, great pub (Devonshire Arms) and specialist cheese shop all within a few minutes walk away.
Lots of good walks all around, including the beautiful river nearaby. The cottage was ideal as a walking base as lots of drying racks, coat hooks and boot racks.
Hope to return soon.
