“A home from home”
Reviewed 1 May 2013 for a stay in August 2012

We've stayed at the Bears Barn many times over the last 12 years or so - it's a perfect little getaway in a beautiful part of the world. The cottage is pretty, comfortable, spotlessly clean and has every convenience you could want - you even get a little welcome pack on arrival! It's got even better in the last year with the addition of a log burner in the sitting room, makes it even cosier.
The village of Hartington is also stunning and well placed for touring Derbyshire and surrounding counties, everytime we visit we find new places to explore. The cottage genuinely has the feel of a home from home and we try and visit as often as we can. Cannot recommend it highly enough!

“Wonderful cosy cottage in a beautiful location.”
Reviewed 1 May 2013 for a stay in February 2011

We have stayed here twice now and had a great stay both times. The cottage was really comfortable and welcoming. The village of Hartington is very pretty and has 2 pubs, both serving excellent food. Walks from the doorstep are amazing with access to surrounding peaks and dales.
We will definitely be back for another stay.

“Absolutely wonderful”
Reviewed 1 May 2013 for a stay in October 2011

Have stayed at the Bears Barn on many occasions. Couldn't recommend enough. Absolutely fantastic accommodation. Cosy and comfortable - lovely for getting away from it all and being really lazy. All mod cons - even a dishwasher, which really with two people is an absolute luxury.

Handy for walking to village for a drink (while dinner is cooking) or if you don't fancy cooking yourself the local pubs offer fine dining.

Lovely walks from the cottage.

Have stayed there in all seasons - February, October, Easter (one year it snowed!) and of course the summer. Fancy Christmas there, but circumstances won't allow at present.

“Great cottage, wonderful location”
Reviewed 1 May 2013 for a stay in August 2011

What a lovely place to get away from it all!
From the moment we arrived we were impressed by the high standard of accommodation, the little extras the owners had included really made a difference. The information pack gave a wealth of advice and information about the area and the visitors book also had suggestions from previous visitors (really helpful).
There are great walks from the door step through some beautiful countryside and the Tissington trail is a short bike ride away.

“Excellent accommodation”
Reviewed 1 May 2013 for a stay in April 2013

The barn provides first class facilities for 2 people. It is beautifully fitted & decorated with all you could need, including dishwasher & washing machine/dryer. Storage heating provides warmth at all times. Furnishings are of high standard & it is a very comfortable place to stay.
The location of the barn is perfect for walking in beautiful countryside & many walks can be started from the front door. There are many places to visit by car as well.
2 pubs in the village serve very good food & there are many other good pubs within a short drive.
After 9 stays at the barn we still plan to stay again as it is such a great place & good value.
