This is an excellent hotel the cleanliness is superb the rooms very nice and all the staff are very friendly and helpful. The food is excellent lots of choice and varied some of the food is grown on site. There are a few downsides our balcony was very close to the neighbours so lacked privacy, other balconies had opaque screens I suggest management should have them fitted to all (our room 703). The sunbeds are also rather close to each other although these are free and there is a buzzer to call for waiter service .The beach is shingle and the sea is very rocky you are best to wear the sea shoes. There are two jetties you can walk along to get over the rocks but it is a lot deeper there. The two swimming pools and areas are excellent with plenty of beds lovely no towels on the beds in the morning. As the is pound weak against the euro things are a little pricy a 330ml bottle of beer 3.70 euro but a bottle of wine in the restaurant 12 euro not bad for a 4 star hotel. There is very little entertainment provided we had one night with a girl singer and greek dancers which were very good and a duo on the last night who although were good singers their music was awful the sort of music which was very depressing and on your last night you want something cheerful you could see people were dyeing to get up and have a dance. My final groan which as nothing to do with the hotel but be aware that it is at least a two hour transfer from the airport to this hotel which does include a nice ferry crossing.

Room Tip: A room on the first or second floor one with a corner balcony you can move around from the sun

Visited Thassos 3 - 10 June 2018. Booked with TUI, we don't normally do package holidays but because we were booking late decided to take the easy route. We were impressed with the island, hotel and TUI.

TUI flight and transfer was good and efficient. It's couch, boat, coach. It took around 3 hours from landing to hotel room but was streamlined. Only two other hotel drop offs and the coach was full. The reps were all very helpful and friendly. Happy to give trip advice and recommendations.

Hotel Alexandra Beach is lovely. Room was comfy, good beds, very clean. Some minor diy needed in bathroom but nothing worth making a fuss about. Fridge and mini bar in room. We were half board, food is varied and tasty and drinks are reasonable. The hotel grow their own veg & fruit around the hotel it was nice to see this. The beach is great very clean, beds and parasols are free and plentiful. There's a buzzer for drink service which is same price as going to the bar. The beach is pebbles, you may need water shoes, they sell them in the village for around €7 if you need them. THE STAFF ARE GREAT - all super friendly and helpful. The hotel is very child friendly we don't use the pool but there are two pools, a jacuzzi and plenty of beds around the pool areas. The Spa was fabulous, wet and dry sauna, jacuzzi and massage showers. Great value, only €56 for two people having one hour in the spa and one full body massage. This was with special offers and discount voucher. Everywhere is kept very clean.

The island is small, plenty to do on a 7 day trip. We hired a car from Potos rentals on line for 3 days. We picked it up in the village which is a 5 minute walk from the hotel. It was great and charges were exactly the same as quotec on the internet €85 + €15 to refill petrol tank. Had three great days travelling around the island.

Walk to

Potos - nearby village 5 minute walk, great restaurants, shops and bars. Can also catch a cheap boat trip day and night around €12.

Pefkari - beach, restaurants, bars 5 minutes walk past caravan park.

Limenaria - slightly bigger than the two villages. 45 minutes walk from hotel along pathway. Too hot for us in the day. Restaurants, bars and shops.

Drive to

Thassos - Great day out don't miss the ruins and museum . Still had time to stop for swim at Aleki Beach on way back.

Theologos - Beautiful village you need to wander around to see everything as all spread out. Folk museum was very interesting and views are great. We went early so didn't eat but restaurants looked brilliant.

Kastro - oldest village not much to see but worth a trip because views are amazing down to the coast.

Scala Marie - lovely bay with quiet beach and restaurants. (aka Scala Marion) very pictuesque.

Room Tip: Very quiet when door shut and blind down. Also has air con and mossi nets. Air con only works if doors shut.

Not long back from our week away at this hotel. Our 3rd visit and once again we had an amazing time. The hotel is kept very clean, the staff work very hard in keeping the area around hotel spotless, especially the guy on the beach who seems to be there everyday and all day just going around making sure all clean and tidy, a bigger than normal wave came in and he was there within minutes with his rake cleaning any debris it brought along with it. On the two previous visits we had lovely views onto the garden area but this time unfortunately we overlooked the car park, it would of been ok room was it self was nice. (but if you dont ask you dont get) I did ask if they had alternative room and the Manager was so helpful and friendly and did move us to another room even though they were extremely busy. We noticed the rooms were getting a little tired from previous stays but clean and comfortable with change of towels and linen every day. Every single member of staff was friendly and helpful, The lady who is in charge of the restaurant area who finds everyone a seat and keeps the chaos down to minimum is indeed a character and full of cheer, very good at her job. The food was excellent a good choice every night. It is a track to get here with the coach, ferry and coach but worth the journey and would return again as its very good value. Thank you to hotel staff for making our stay delightful once again. You all work incredibly hard.

Amazing hotel, truly 5* service all around. Very nice clean rooms, staff are so friendly and truly provide a luxury service. The hotel is in a great location a walking distance from bars and restaurants whilst also being practically on the beach. Would definitely visit this hotel again and would recommend it to anyone wishing to visit Thassos.

For a family holiday (10 days, two daughters in early twenties) this was near enough perfect. Very clean, very professional, very friendly, very nice grounds beautifully kept.

The rooms were spotless, quite spacious with very comfortable beds. good sized balconies or terraces. We had garden views, one faced the small entrance road. Some rooms have sea views. Air con very good and quiet when on single fan setting. Very well insulated and sealed so mosquitos will have trouble getting in. We did use mosquito repellent spray on arms and legs in evenings at dinner.

Really excellent choice of buffet food at dinner, if you are a foodie and enjoy local Greek dishes with huge choice of salads, cheeses you will be kept happy. The chefs and waiting staff work so hard - impressive - you will be made to feel very welcome. If you are more of a pizza and chips kind of diner, well there is plenty there, but try being a bit more adventurous please! Eat outside, lovely, there's lots of tables in and out.

Our tip - there's loads of food, it doesn't run out, so take your time over you meal and go up for 6 courses - Olives/bread/oil – Various salad starters – Fish & seasonal veg – Main course Meat/Moussaka/Souvlaki etc – Dessert – Fruit and Cheeses with bread sticks etc.

Some really very decent Greek wines to choose from at between 12 and 20 euros/bottle.

Breakfast is also wide ranging choice with pancakes, omelettes being cooked to order and salads, fruit, pastry... just everything really and again to a high standard. Fresh-pressed juice was available for an extra euro.

Superb pools with bedchairs and lots of clever shade. Small toddlers pool, again cleverly shaded with sailclothes.

Beach has masses of parasols and bedchairs for the free exclusive use of the hotel and helpful staff manning the hotel's beach bar. Beach itself is sandy/shingly pebbles and has two long pontoons to allow swimmers access straight into clear deep water. Some of the water near to the beach itself has a lot of stones and sea urchins. The pontoons mean you avoid all that.

For young children the edge of the beach/surf is fine for paddling and playing and there were plenty of young families doing exactly that. the large thatched parasols give lots of shade so you can happily take young children down to the beach and keep them shaded out of direct sun. For children a bit older who might be nervous of swimming this might not be the best beach because of rocks further out. Really the choice is either paddle in margins or swim in deep water off the pontoons. It would be difficult for nervous swimmer to slowly wade out to sea.

There is a lot of very comfortable and shaded seating on the hotel's terraces with views across the bay and to Athos mountain, perfect for evening cocktails and relaxing. The waiting staff are very pleasant and helpful. If you prefer to sit out of the sun and read books you can happily do this here.

A word about the hotel's grounds, they are immaculately kept and the hotel grows many of its own fruit and vegetables such as aubergines and tomatoes. There is a very attractive childrens' playground and a small chapel too.

Short walk to Potos town with shops and an excellent bakery which does amazing cream eclairs, olive bread rings and spinach pie, also cheap coffee frappes!

A 45 minute or so walk in opposite direction can take you through Pefkari and on to the lovely little town of Limenaria - we walked there for the exercise and to enjoy the cafes. We also walked there one evening and back - with the stars the newly built trail was fine.

I think the official rating of the hotel is 4* and I would say it exceeds this, for most families or couples I'd say it hits the right balance between facilities and cost. We holidayed in early June with Tui and it was extremely well priced.

A word of warning. The previous year we also holidayed in Thassos (at a different resort and hotel) in early July and found so many wasps (plagues of them) that came down at meal times when outside. If you suffer with wasp sting allergy, I would look into this carefully before booking. This time in early June we saw possibly just three wasps in 10 days.

Room Tip: Possibly avoid the rooms facing the small access road as view not so good.
