Recently we visited kolhapur and we had booked our stay at Nisarg Resort. It's situated at a hill top & amids the green... After completing the basic reception formalties and while going to the room lots of things attracted me, so a quick refresh & my tour starts.... The
entire set up was theme base on Refurbish, Recycle, Reuse and that too very sublime way. Nothing overboard. I got to see the old world charm merged with modernity in a very asthetical way. Got to see the old wooden furnitures refurbished. A piano, chest of drawers, swings, aata chakki, a bioscope, plough, bullock cart, wooden window, all displayed at various corners tell their stories , old styled lanterns, radio, gramo recorder, sharpeners, cameras, and various other metallic charms & statues, door knockers, pens, trasistors, utencils, books & what not!! The entire ambiance look so clean , mindfully planned & zenly organized , the food was very Desi & simple - no alcohol served. We also got to witness mesmerising flute concert , rendition of old nostagic Bollywood songs, lezime, sword fight display... To keep the guest entertained.
The Nisarg Resort has every room differently done interior but with natural stone & wood used evidently. The most attractive was their Truck house & stone villa. The truck house is an old Mercedes Benz Truck which is off road now was modified into a mini home with mini roof top sitout from where veiw of valley is mesmerising., an open roof stone bath is another experience altogether. Another corner a wada style rooms are under construction for joint family or big group visiting can stay together, Another are huge villa rooms with open bath tubs or jacuzi from were you can view the valley from height maintaining the privacy. Also a stone cottage . As the entire resort was booked with guest we could not click other room pictures. You can view them on Resort website. Ample space for parking, wifi, cycles available for aventure lovers who want to explore near by ghat, a mini play area for tinytots, 24*7 hot water utilizing natual resource - the Solar energy , a biogas plant ( worth for kids to read & get the knowledge) They also have a mini safari to Rock garden from where the Sunset is spectacular.
We also got to meet the brain behind the whole idea of Nisarg Resort - Mr Avinash Bedekar. A humble gentleman who is very fond of his vintage collectible,he designs natural & reclaimed wood funitures , proud owner of wood studio nearby where he shapes his passion for creating unique wooden furnitures, he has collection of various exotic plants & enjoys stone balancing which need a lot of patience & concerntration. It's like a meditation for him. While talking to him we learnt his about his journey to amalgamate all RRR & optimum usage of natural resources in modern ly way. He also told his story that how he has used the woods from trees that were cut in road widening highway projects, their roots and stones from demolised wadas and created his dream project "Nisarg Resorts". He used all old bullock cart wheels , reclaimed wooden, stone doors for the interiors of the project. This help him to retain the history as well as think out of the box to use all and generate jobs for locals, experiment natural resources and discarded things to give a new lease of life. The entire staff is so polite. Posting some of the pictures for you to see how beautiful the resort is. If you want to experience a small break from city husstle- bustle.... Do think of this place. This is not any advertisement but my personal experience.
