The hotel is perfectly located for Kolhapur's major attraction - The Mahalaxmi Temple; hardly 350 mts. from its door-step. I would rate it as the most decent one present on that street. The staff was absolutely soft-spoken. Experience began with a phone call in morning to confirm booking; the manager was polite & brief. On arrival, the complete staff is welcoming with a smiling face. The bell boy assists you with smiles, obedience & minimum verbal interaction(read - they know their job). They showed us all the available rooms, to choose from.
The management stole the show when they realized that they had allotted us an AC-suite room, over booking of a non-AC deluxe room. They politely took away the AC remote, without any hassle to shift - just as expected in hospitality. The hotel has an elevator, which some guests may look for.
As we rested through evening & were in no mood to visit the temple in lethargic state, the staff suggested us to visit other places of interest. Those suggestions were bang-on; as one would need to un-wind over a vacation. Khau-Gali is less than 500mts - with famous Rajabhau bhel original outlet; where as the Rankala lake is about a kilometer from this place; all walkable & must visit during evening. Next morning the obvious choice for breakfast was the renowned Padtare misal, which is within less than a km stroll ! This brand-Madhuri also owns a bakery within 200mts & serves some good baked items & delicious Kandi-peda. A fancy convenient store/super market is 350mts walk, which also hosts a decent cafe.
Food & drinks cannot be commented, since they do not have their own restaurant yet; But we were lucky to experience inauguration of one in adjacent building. A star reduced for service, since the first sheet had stains & did not feel fresh, though floor, furniture, balcony & bathroom were absolutely clean & well-lit. The services were better than a single star hotel. We did not have any parking-related issues, though some reviewers had mentioned it & i would agree about limited space. As it is located within old-city walls & centrally - the area was under surveillance of a police-company, which inducted a sense of safety for evening & night-walks. The windows are not sound-proof; a nominal amount of traffic noise which may disturb some, but not to us.
The staff was cooperative & did not interfere with check-out though there was a nominal delay. (We notified in advance, to receive their consent)More
