Given that the hotel will be closed for redevelopment in September this would partially explain some of the issues we experienced but not basic expections of £100 per night. Shower was a disgracefully poor imitation. Grubby and careworn room.

The staff were brilliant although too few of them.

We booked at the last minute (four hours before arriving) and the manager took the trouble to call us and advise where to find the keys and gain access if we were very late. We managed to arrive when he was still there and even though the kitchen had closed , they made us a delicious fish and chips and dessert was offered too. This is a super friendly hotel and the rooms are inexpensive, The bar was excellent with a good range of beers and breakfast was first class. Best of all, its only one minute from an excellent beach.

Room Tip: one without rats.

We went to the pub here a year ago with our dogs and had a really nice home cooked meal. So this year with our grand kids (3 and 8) we returned. Everyone loved their meal in the bar, the staff were excellent the food was perfect and the price was really good. During the holiday we asked the kids would they like fish and chips or to go back to the pub and they wanted to return. We went back a second time and again we all had different dishes and again loved it. Again the bar man was excellent with us. Would recommend for families.

note: only visited as diners

Visited on recent caravan weekend trip on the grounds they take dogs. In brief: lovely meals. Wife had the special off the board whilst I had the Penne Arrabiata. Was just little disappointed that the menu stated it came with olives and peppers, whilst what I got seem to be loaded with aubergines and just a bit of pepper (and no olives)…they should tell you when you order that there may be variations in the ingredients. Wife had nice apple crumble dessert. Prices are on the high side but quality and quantity are good.

Also strange to see a menu where so many items are the same price : £10.

I understand the place is being rebuilt later this year,…..just hope the menu does not go up in price as a result.

The main hotel in Sutton on Sea the Grange and Links is proposed for redevelopment (and is getting close to being shut if not). It’s a curious mix of faded glory, old, new and excellent customer service. My sister had the larger room with settee and four poster bed. I had a more standard double bedroom. Both fine. The staff were really helpful.
