This hotel came recommended by many other guests for convenience from the nearby motorway. It was a bit difficult to find at first and the two sat navs we had took us to the wrong street which was a bit tricky down the narrow roads as we were towing a trailer!. The hotel was very quaint yet clean and modern with A/C and Wi-Fi in each room. generous bedrooms with a lovely view from the balcony of the mountains.

The staff were exceptionally polite and friendly and were a pleasure to be served by; nothing was too much trouble. Drinks were cheap and the menu was good value and very tasty.

Room Tip: Have a balcony overlooking the mountains

We stopped overnight en route to Lake Guarda. Good hotel with air conditioned rooms and a good restaurant. The local wine was excellent. The reception was very welcoming. There was secure parking in an underground car park, which provided a cool place to leave the car. There is also plenty of external parking.

The hotel Comte de Challantes in Fénis is a family-run hotel with 28 rooms. The is located 17 kms South of Aosta on the highway.
The double room with castle and mountain view is soberly furnished. The size of the room is approximate 15m2. The double bed is comfortable. Unfortunately, it is fitted with a woolen blanket which does no longer fit into the modern, hygienic hotel concept of today. A freshly covered quilt offers better hygienic standards which is now also common in 3-star hotels. The room has a desk with a simple chair and a free Internet connection, however lacks such basics as a comfortable resting chair, a complimentary bottle of water or a kettle for tea and coffee. The bathroom is clean, equipped with a small shower stall.
The breakfast is good and extensively garnished with local products. Egg dishes are prepared on request. The restaurant is cozy and yet elegantly decorated. The menu is tailored to suit those wanting to try local, traditional cuisine from the Aosta Valley. The meals come in generous portions and are tasty, but are calorie heavy.
Free parking is available in front of the hotel.

Hotel Comtes de Challant has been for many years the place we looked forward to for our first night in Italy (just off the motorway) on our way to Tuscany for our Easter holiday. We appreciate this family run Hotel with the excellent restaurant and the Italian (Aosta) food ....the fabulous view on the Alps, the Aostian scenery and Fenis Castle just in front of the Hotel. The family and the staff are very friendly and helpful....the rooms very clean - with free wifi - inviting you to stay longer, visit beautiful Aosta (10km)...the castles etc....loving the 'cuisine du chef' : the home smoked salmon( my favourite), the lamb chops,...and all the special dishes 'Val d'Aostane'.......the really nice breakfast : don't miss the home-made marmalades - (orange is my favorite)
