It was the Mud hut/cottage. It is stocked with plenty of books from the world wide. No TV there. Nothing could have been better - the ambiance, the food, the greenery and above all the people who serve you with personal attention of Sukanya & Krishno. To add on, do not forget to visit the Boutique of Sukanya(Design Asia) - exquisite Sarees : Stoles & Kurtas specifically designed by her(all singe pieces mind you - no repetitions). They come at reasonable prices. As a matter of fact Sukanya, may be, believes in no repetitions and makes it a point for the food served also. We were there for two days. Every time we had food it was different. Look forward to a longer stay there, of course, depending on the availability. It was a great stay.
The only thing which marred our feelings for the locals was the khejur gur we purchased from Goalpara. A lady seemingly prepared it for us(I had advanced her the previous day). On reaching Kolkata we found it was all sugar sauce which we could not figure out while it was hot and the moment it cooled down it turned into white sugar blocks. Unfortunately our trust for the locals was betrayed but this is life. Maybe we trusted the wrong person!! No complaints!@!@

Room Tip: For Home Stays it is the people who matter to me. We view the place through their hospitality.

I was there for a workshop as a part of a large team of nearly 30 people. I felt like I was at home. The house is sprawling, the grounds are beautiful. The terrace, a dream. The food... mind-blowing. Every meal was a delight and I for one, was so sorry when they ended. I wish I didn't have to come back when I did.

We travelled last year in July 2016, to Santiniketan. We were 4 adults and 2 kids.

The stay was very good, the breakfast was amazing, the dinner was awesome. The oweners were not there when we went, they were at kolkata. But the caretaker took great care of us and made us comfertable. The children enjoyed the place and had fun cycling around and travelling in the TOTO.

The handicrafts available like cremic pottery, jute products were also very good.

Excellent place to enjoy nature, and relax with family.

The caretaker of the property Mr. Bijoy is very caring and is committed for guests' satisfaction.

We had a great stay, kids also enjoyed the place, savored good food here as well, in particular the Lemon grass soup and sesame chicken. Many vegetables are grown here and used while cooking or serving. We were welcomed with Shikanji with a hint of "gandharaj" ( rongpur aromatic lime).

Mr. Dey has a huge collection of books and interestingly the entire collection is available for his guests for relaxed reading.

We stayed in the suite with one additional room and terrace. It is perfect for a family of 4 with a little grown up kids. The terrace is perfect for stargazing.

Overall we had a great experience , and I would highly recommend this place for the visitors who prefer homestay.
