3rd time we have stayed at gwern it never disappoints - A family of 9, 6 adults and three children, plenty of space so you dont feel as though you are on top of each other. Its just minutes walk in to Marazion. Just a beautiful place to stay. Cant wait for our next visit.
Just got back from a weeks stay and upon arrival the house looked lovely, great size and space for us all. However once inside it became apparent that the house was a little tired and in need of updating and items and fixtures fixing. Blinds were broken in both the main house and cottage and the bedding smelt damp. We had to do a clean of surfaces as everywhere felt a bit dirty, and under the beds were thick of dust. We even ironed the bedding which was extremely creased- not expected when paying to stay somewhere. The grass wasn't mowed and the decking needs some tlc. We tried to have a BBQ however when we opened the BBQ it was pretty disgusting and unable to cook on it, we had to buy disposables. The description of the house sounds much better than what is actually on offer, the Xbox is a very old console and didn't work, the table tennis bats were broken and the balls were split and as said above the house is in need of some tlc and updating.
The location of the house is fantastic and the size of the house was great we were a party of 11 plus a baby and had plenty of space, the garden is also a great size and we really enjoyed sitting out.
2nd year running to Gwern Cottage, once again a fantastic stay. 5 minute walk into Marazion, with gorgeous beach n right by St Michaels Mount. Everything you need in the cottage, 8 people n 4 dogs, plenty of room, would come back every year
Yet again this cottage never fails to impress me and my family. Another lovely holiday in Marazion, although the weather was not up to its usual standard we still managed to get around and visit different towns, villages etc from previous years.
I cannot stress how conveniently situated this cottage is to the very many wonderful beaches, towns, villages in this lovely part of Cornwall. A must is the park and ride train facility from LeLant to St. Ives. Another idea is to visit the cathedral City of Truro. This is a must for all the well known High Street Shops as well as visiting the cathedral itself. this was the first time for us to visit Truro and was amazed at the diversity of the town.
When the weather was inclement the kind owner of the cottage (Dr. Job) gave us access to the games room situated in the annex.
Will we be back? this is the 4th visit for us staying at Gwern Cottage and each year there is something different about it. It is fully modernized, very clean with all the facilities you would require for self catering. I cannot fault it, and yes WE WILL BE BACK
