We stayed in Cabanas El Tropero for 4 days. We were waiting for the climate to get better so we could do the Las Horquetas trail. During this time, Eliane was a superbe hostess! She was so helpful with absolutely everything!!!! She is so nice and so involved to make our stay the best possible. We stayed in the smallest cabin: it´s simple, but everything is confortable and very clean, and it has all you need to have a nice stay. And we stayed one night at the biggest cabin, which is much newer and even more confortable.

We pre-booked a night at the cabanas. When we arrived that night, the owner was at first pleasant. She gave us a tour of the cabin. Right before she gave us the key, she asked us where we’re from. As soon as she heard we’re from Israel, she told us they don’t host Israelis, and that we need to leave. At first we thought she was kidding, but she became very rude, telling us to get out, and walking back to her house and slamming the door, without explaining why. Needless to say, we were shocked and humiliated. We’re a quiet couple in our mid 30’s, and nothing like this ever happened to us before. We were left without a place to sleep that night. I’d like to believe she did it because she had a previous bad experience with Israelis, and not because she has a general problem with Israelis/Jews, but we were very humiliated and upset. Would not recommend to anyone.

This is a great place to stay before or after a Cerro Castillo hike. The host is very welcoming and helpful, and the cabaña we stayed in was an excellent deal, with a small (but equipped and functional) kitchens.
