We had a very relaxing break! The parents of the owner live next door and were incredibly welcoming and helpful, seeing us up with all we needed. The beauty of Uist spoke for itself. Highly recommended.
Very well appointed, warm cottage in an easily accessible location 10 minutes from the ferry. Friendly hosts in Angus and Morag who couldn't do enough for us. Lovely to see the wee lambs being born. Eriskay is lovely and we saw the ponies. Also fed wild ponies on South Uist.
We spent a week here over Hogmany and New Year and we leave tomorrow taking a little piece of this Hebridean heaven with us.
The overwhelming beauty of this island and the neighbouring islands of the outer Hebridean archipelago are breathtaking even in December and January.
From start to finish we have been welcomed and cosseted by Angus and Morag our hosts who have found the perfect balance of support and care whilst never intruding on our personal space.
We have celebrated a true highland Hogmany with ceilidhs, first footing and New Year celebrations.
The cottage provides the best of everything from the quality of the welcome pack, bed linen, towels, bathrobes, appliances etc. all in the most tasteful of interior decor, to the comfiest bed we have ever slept in.
Externally this old black house has been sympathetically restored to an outstanding standard whilst maintaining the integrity of its purpose in years gone by. It is a wonderful marriage of old with all modern comforts and is dog friendly to boot!
Beautiful beaches are within a short walk and hotels, shop and fuel etc. are very close by.
We visited 6 islands over 6 days and each brought breathtaking scenery and beaches beyond compare even on the isolated wet day we had.
Our Border Terrier Maggie is exhausted ( something we didn't think possible ) as she ran over white sands and swam in crystal clear water. She too was warmly welcomed.
All in all we have experienced a New Year like no other in the epitome of luxury and loveliness.
Our gratitude to Angus and Morag. We cannot thank you enough for everything from meeting us at Lochboisdale, first footing, ceildhs and hospitality beyond compare. Our thanks also to Iain for the efficient and thoughtful arrangements and communications in getting us here.
We are secretly hoping that our ferry may be cancelled tomorrow.
Cosy and comfortable, well equipped traditional cottage in an accessible yet very peaceful location.
Plenty of storage for bikes, wet suits etc, plenty of outside space, close to the beach but within easy reach of amenities.
Highlights of the week were swimming with the seals in Loch Aineort, cycling around Barra and climbing Beinn Mhor. Also enjoyed listening to the corncrakes, talking to the Highland cows, eating plenty of cake and dancing on the beach.
Easy to book, approachable and helpful while we were out there, couldn't ask for more!
The Cozy Thatched cottage is just that...and beyond! It has all the modern conveniences one could want, yet still maintains an intimate, hideaway feel. From bike rides, to BBQ, to long walks on the beach ...we couldn't have asked for more.,,,or enjoyed ourselves more. The beds were heaven and linens first class. WiFi fast. Angus could not have been more helpful or FUN! Always there if we needed him...but never intrusive. In fact, when we didn't see him during our week long stay...We sought him out to share a dram or a story. Fishing, exploring biking, hiking...Everything was at our doorstep. We traveled with lifelong friends and all SIX of us agreed this was the perfect setting for a holiday to remember and repeat.
