Thendup is an excellent organizer, he helped us with everything we needed. He arranged a guide, advised us on transport, helped us with a very special request. He went above and beyond his call of duty. The property is beautiful, we stayed in a wooden yurt, it was spacious, had lovely views, a nice washroom. The building was spotlessly clean and in great condition. The scenery speaks for itself, it's beautiful. Perfect views of the Himalayas on a clear day. We fell asleep listening to sounds of nature, it was really peaceful and relaxing. The staff are attentive but also laid back, they are there if you need them but they give you privacy and allow you to roam without interruption. Hot water bags each night , a lovely touch. The food is fresh, home made , tasty and presented well. Overall it is a great place for a nature lover who wants to get away from a fast pace life. A perfect place to read your book in the individualized balcony attached to the yurt. It's a really special place.

Spent 3 nights in the last week of September, 2017. We were 4 of us and had booked 2 rooms.

The journey from Bagdogra was of 4 hours. Roads are not in good shape due to heavy rains. But repair work should begin in early October.

The location is off the hamlet of Rinchenpong and actually in the middle of a farm. The farm has woods all around making the place is really secluded.

We were staying in the wooden outhouse, which actually is a block of 3 rooms, each one quite well done. Pretty large and can easily accommodate a family of 2 adults and 1-2 kids. There is a long sit out , outside the rooms with lots of sitting arrangements. Ideal place for having morning tea and evening cocktail.
We had opted for the AP package, and that makes sense as there is no eatery in the vicinity. Having said that, I must admit that the food was generally quite good. Thupka, momos, dry chicken, local rolls for breakfast, chilli pork - were real good. Thendup, the owner, is always around and he can help you select the right food . Food is plenty and in addition there is the fruit basket, to help yourself whenever you feel like.
What to do - nothing much really. This is the place to just laze around and relax and eat. There are a few interesting village walks though. We did try one of those to Smriti Van and enjoyed it. On a clear day you can have a good view of the snow capped Kabru peak.
There is no TV. Whether you need one or not is really up to you.
What could be better - Rooms need tea/coffee makers.
Any concern- Power situation is not good in these rural locations. They have a battery back-up though, which provides some relief.
Thendup and his staff are excellent people. It's a place I will strongly recommend.

Yangsum Heritage Farm is a quaint, serene and rustic farm stay which gives you a warm and comfortable experience making it feel like a home away from home. The owner, Mr Thendup extends exceptional personalized attention and is very helpful in providing information on local sightseeing as well as in arranging for transportation to do the same. Conversations with him added to the charm of our stay. A special mention must be made of the food which was freshly prepared keeping in mind the guests dietary restrictions and preferences. One must savour the authentic flavours of the local cuisine.

The drive from Bagdogra to the farm is scenic and beautiful though the state of roads in Sikkim leaves much to be desired. Yet that should not be a deterrent to planning a stay here. Its the perfect destination for those seeking an off-beat holiday experience. One can either venture out to visit popular tourist destinations or simply relax at the farm with a favourite book, go for walks around the farm and enjoy the laidback days with the scrumptious food of course. Do note internet connectivity is erratic and there are no television sets in the rooms. Not that we missed either and instead we spent some good family time together.

Yangsum farm homestay in Sikkim is an excellent heartwarming place to stay. The view of the entire range of the Kanchengunga, the lush greenery all around, the delicious meals and helpful host and staff all make it really worthwhile.

We stayed there for 4 days in May 2017 and would go back anytime. All the rooms have their own charm and the owner is terribly helpful in making all arrangements for travel, stay and local sightseeing in Sikkim. The staff work hard, making it seem almost like a hotel and not a homestay. We noticed that some guests with children and regional preferences made difficult demands regarding food, but the staff were kind and helpful.

If I were to change anything, I would say that the food, while being delicious is too oily. Other than this, I would insist that nothing changes in Yangsum farm.
