This is the second year in a row we have stayed at Valtos Cottage, and it is nothing short of absolutely superb. It is beyond doubt our favorite location on the Isle of Lewis, and somewhere we definitely hope to return again in the future.
The views of Valtos and Kneep beaches are spectacular, and it is so very easy to spend the day relaxing and simply watching the weather change across the sky. We walked to the beaches every day, and across the hill to Reef beach for long walks in the summer evenings, exploring the area as the tide went out. Always something different to find!
The cottage is beautifully appointed, with everything one could require for a break. The welcome back was also a lovely touch. The showers in both bathrooms have wonderful pressure, the beds assure a sound night’s sleep and the deck outside is fantastic to sit and enjoy a morning coffee.
Tod and Heather are gracious hosts, and we have had the chance to meet with Tod upon both of our visits. He has many stories of the area, and it was very interesting to learn more about the history and the smaller isles dotted around the are.
The cottage is always books up months in advance over the summer period, and we were lucky there was availability for us. So, make sure to contact Tod and Heather quickly if you don’t want to miss out.
Valtos is definitely a place of calm, serenity and relaxation. The perfect place to take pause, recharge and rejuvenate.
This is the second time we have stayed at Valtos cottage.
Valtos in Uig in our opinion is the most beautiful location on the island and cannot be beaten.
The cottage is ideally placed with views over two of the many beaches in the area. We were able to stroll down to the beach without having to get the car out. A very relaxing place to stay whatever the weather. Sit out on the terrace overlooking for view for breakfast, should the weather change, how cosy to be indoors, all the time with that amazing view and the changing colours of the landscape.
Two spacious bedrooms, one ensuite. Super bathroom with sauna.
All mod cons, in fact everything you would need for an unforgettable time.
The owners have presented the cottage in immaculate condition and provide a 'welcome pack' of goodies on arrival.
The compact kitchen has everything needed for self catering. Nearest 'shop' is approx 5 miles away. Note of caution, if you arrive in Stornoway on a Sunday the supermarkets ( Co op and Tesco) will be closed and it is difficult to get provisions. But... You can pre order from the local shop and your goods will be awaiting your arrival ! )
Would not hesitate to recommend !
5* luxurious cottage with everything you could ask for and more such as sauna and steam room. The views are absolutely stunning and change throughout the day as the sun moves round until finally at sunset you get the clear blue waters of the loch against hills lit by the setting sun. What makes it even more special is the welcome from the owners, Tod and Heather who really seem to go the extra mile to make you welcome and personally meet you at the cottage. Couldn't ask for a better location if you want to go exploring as it is centrally located making it easy to get to both North Lewis and South Harris as well as a short trip into Stornoway.
