I love zoos and animals and Australia Zoo is up there as on of the best, outside of Brisbane it has a lot of land, the enclosures give animals good space to move around. As a reptile love the opportunity to hold a snake was awesome, and a koala, unlike some states of Australia, you are allowed to hold a koala in Queensland. The Africa section is awesome, with Rhino's, Giraffes and Zebras all roaming a very large enclosure, big central Cafe and water pool and fountain area for kids to play.
We recently spent a half day at Australia Zoo. The grounds and facilities are beautiful and well maintained. We were impressed with the food court - while expensive, there was variety for everyone and the food was nice.
Our children enjoyed the Crocoseum show and seeing the Irwins.
This is an astonishing zoo. The best I have been! The of this family and their amazing vision and philosophy is everywhere.
Maybe expectation, but major disappointment.
Re crocs, saw more at feedings by chance at rear of "Crocosseum" than in.
Way too commercial and so little of Steve Irwin's legacy. Much more of a Bindy ego trip, the wedding video was cringe worthy...
My mum informed the staff it was her birthday upon ticketing, so they gave her a "crikey" badge, it made her day as strangers were wishing her happy birthday all day. We had some ice creams which didn't take long to melt, luckily we got a cup. We spent most of the day here walking around seeing all the animals and watching the main show which was good. We caught the shuttle bus back to beerwah station but actually took the public bus to the zoo in the morning. Plenty of drinking fountains and areas to cool down when needed. The island was pretty cool to visit and loved the walk through aviaries too.
