Our room was small, as are most hotel rooms in Japan. It was basically furnished and provided any/all toiletries needed. There was a sento--hot tub + onsen--hot spring as part of a public bath, which made the experience even more traditional. For the feint of heart or overly modest...beware! Swimsuits NOT an option!
For the price, one can not beat the experience. The staff were all very friendly and welcoming; several were pretty fluent in English, which made communication easier. They even offer a traditional Japanese-style breakfast (for a surcharge), though we didn't have time in our short schedule to partake in it (ordered take-out from McDonalds and KFC 100 meters down the street...I know, I know, but very limited for time due to alterations in our itinerary).
I recommend anyone staying in the Mt. Fuji area to stay at this hotel. A couple points to consider:
The "public" bath is also available for a fee to people who aren't staying at the hotel. Locals also use this, but it was never over-crowded the four times I was there over two days.
From the train/bus station(s), it is at least a 1 km/15-minute walk, so consider a taxi to get back and forth if you aren't able to walk this distance or are otherwise apprehensive about walking with luggage.
Tip: print a copy of the hotel (or any other destination) in Japanese language to hand to your driver to avoid any miscommunication.
