Good location if you are climbing Fuji

Review of Hotel Fuyokaku
3.0 of 5 bubblesReviewed 30 Aug 2015
This hotel is very close to the Fujisan train station, which was nice. We stayed here two nights, however one night was mainly for our bags to stay since we were climbing Fuji though out the night. For travelers who are only in town to climb Fuji, this hotel was a great home base. It was a tad overpriced for the condition but clean and nice enough. The carpets, walls and lamp shades were stained and the furniture was outdated. However, the sheets were clean and the bed was comfy. They let us check into our room early which was great and there was an onsen located in the hotel free of charge. This was a blessing after that climb. There are certain hours for men and certain hours for women. My tattoo was not an issue which was nice as it normally is a problem at most onsens. There was WIFI in the lobby but not in the room. If you plan on spending more time in your room then to just sleep, I would look for a nicer place. If you just need a place to sleep that is convenient, this is a good hotel.

Really the worst hotel I've ever seen in Japan
Room was awfully dirty, the furniture was so dirty, I couldn't even touch it.
Stuff was extremely rude and impolite. The cleaning staff start to noise in the corridor early in the morning, knocking in the door, ignoring the don't disturb sign.
The price for this hotel is too high, you can find much much more better for 75$ per night. To be honest, I can recommend this hotel nobody, it could spoil your vacation.
Oh, yes, the View of Fuji was incredible, but you can see it from any point of Fujiyoshida, not only from this awful hotel.

Stayed at the Hotel during a recent conference. The place was clean, but the rooms were a bit smaller I thought. The view of Mount Fuji from the room was great! The location was good with access to public transport, shopping mall and eateries around. The kitchen wasn't functioning nor the internet in the rooms, though they promised internet access. The service wasn't great.

The hotel was pretty run down and really smelt like cigarettes, which as a non smoker is off putting. It was in a good location thought. The staff were friendly and they did try their best. The rooms were cleanish, but they were just very tired looking and need renovating.

The one redeeming feature was the view... we had a mount fuji view which (when the cloud cleared) was amazing. Just a shame there was cloud both mornings as we wanted to watch it at sunrise.
