Wanted to review this hotel as there are few reviews from Westerners and I would've appreciated more when we were booking our trip! We were booked here by our agent, supposedly this is the finest hotel in Zhangye. It is quite lovely. The rooms were spacious, the beds were comfortable and it's very clean. The hotel is decorated with nice artwork (including the giant ode to the Danxia landforms behind the desk!). Breakfast was good - crowded, but plenty of seating. A nice variety of dishes on offer, including fresh hand-pulled noodles in broth every day. We ventured outside the hotel for all other meals and were richly rewarded - the food in Zhangye is outstanding. As usual, look for places that are crowded with locals. No one spoke English - you need to have an optical reader on your phone/some command of Mandarin and good pointing skills. Everyone we encountered was super friendly and willing to help us as best they could. We ate like kings and queens each night!

We had an English-speaking guide with us, and that was good. Although this is billed as an "international hotel," the employees speak very limited English. We expected this - Zhangye is off the beaten path in China, and that's why we were there. We didn't have to navigate the front desk or much of anything ourselves. We did get laundry done (it was done perfectly!) and communicating with the ladies who came to pick it up was a comedy of errors, despite our ability to speak a little Mandarin. Everyone was very friendly.

All in all, would definitely stay here again - and Danxia is AMAZING and worth a trip.

Room tip: Family suite was great - two separate rooms, one bath, plenty of space. A/C worked very well - which was great b/c it was HOT.

My girlfriend and I took a weekend trip to Zhangye from Shanghai in order to see the famous Danxia Landform there. We booked through a travel agent who told us this hotel is apparently the best in Zhangye. It was a fine stay in a clean room. The rooms are quite spacious as well. The bathrooms were very nice and clean.
We had dinner at the restaurant and found the food not to be that great. I would say if you stay here, save your money and eat at one of the fabulous local restaurants instead for a cheaper price. We had Lanzhou noodles in a small street side restaurant and found those to be much tastier than what we experienced in the hotel.
The best thing about this hotel was probably the lobby, where there is a large and beautiful painting of the Danxia Landform. It is quite stunning.
Can't complain, because I feel like this probably is the best you can get in Zhangye.
