Me and two friends just completed the Orang Utan Trek with these guys and it was nothing short of amazing. Our guides Helmi and Anto went above and beyond to show us as much wildlife as possible. The pace of the trek was up to us and water breaks were frequent. We saw around 13 orangutans as well as a number of other monkeys and apes, eagles and even a tortoise! The food cooked up by chef Ekih was incredible and we ate like kings at breakfast lunch and dinner. Rest assured no one went hungry and we eat a lot! I would recommend this trek to anyone thinking of coming to Sumatra. The guides the food and the organisation by Heri made the whole thing unforgettable. We will be back!

Such an amazing experience to be able to observe wild orangutans swinging freely in their natural habitat! Our guide Amin is very passionate about Bukit Lawang, conservation of the environment and wildlife, and took good care of us throughout the tour. Amin has a good sense of humour, always keeping the mood light and making us smile (Even with the jungle heat!) Dinner was great and it was a lovely morning waking up next to the river. After returning to the village, our guides and the group stayed behind to enjoy a few drinks, live music and nice chat. I definitely recommend to go with Amin and experience the jungle magic!

It would also be great if we could all do our part in respecting the nature and in helping to keep wildlife wild. Avoid taking flash photography, maintain safe distance from wildlife, observe quietly and avoid feeding wildlife unless absolutely necessary.

Did the 3D/2N jungle trek which I would definitely recommend to anyone wanting to get away from the city or looking to experience something different. Was recommended Sumatra Orang Utan Treks from a friend and they did not disappoint. Kellan helped me organize everything, from transport to/from Medan, as well as a night in their guesthouse before the trek started. Our guides, Herdi and Jojo, were super entertaining and more than accommodating, even tailoring our day hikes to what we were looking for (Herdi will deliver if you ask for harder hikes), as well as our porter/cook Diki who cooked up unbelievable food and got us anything we needed - even hiking up cold beer every day to camp so that we could enjoy at night. Could not recommend this adventure more - my only regret being we couldn't do more nights. Hoping to do another trip with Herdi, Jojo, and Diki soon!

We decided very last minute to do this Trek and randomly choose Sumatra Orang Utan Treks. We had our two kids (6 and 10) with us, only to realise onsite that we were the only ones who went trekking as a family. Turns out that not only were our guides, Helmi and Jojo, brilliant and knowledgeable about the jungle. They were also fantastic with the kids. And more importantly, the kids and ourselves as parents we loved it.

We never thought we would be so close to the Orangutans. Once we were it was just the experience of a lifetime. These gracious animals are impressive. We only spent 3 days 2 nights and wished we would have had one more day. An Orangutan trek is one thing you do should at least once, if you live in Asia or even further out. Lodging comfort is basic as it should be. Food cooked by Robin, especially if you realise this is done in the midst of the jungle, was excellent. I had childhood memories eating Chicken Rendang, vegetable green curry and spicy fish. Helmi and Jojo entertained us with a simple deck of cards and matches. So much better than ipad and internet. Rafting back to Bukit Lawang was hilariously fun. All in all, just go do this, while it is there.

I was a solo traveller and the guides showed me very personalized care, with every detail of my stay in Bukit Lawan, in the jungle on a 2 day wild orangutan trek and on a 6 day wild elephant trek. I was guided by Amin, a passionate promoter of conservation and respect for the wilderness and it's creatures. I felt that this surpassed the quality of experience of the treks which other companies and guides offered. I intended to visit much of Sumatra during my 2 week stay, but I simply could not leave the hospitality of the people I met through my guide and the beauty of this part of the island.
