Scenic solitude

Review of Itmenaan Estate
5.0 of 5 bubblesReviewed 1 Sept 2020via mobile
Where better to escape and recharge during the time of Covid -19?
This location is the perfect retreat from the anxieties of the modern world, where you can unwind and enjoy the healing benefits of the natural world.
Surrounded by stunning scenery and abundant wildlife it is possible to submerse yourself in a place the world has not touched. The views are mesmerising and there is a heady fragrance of flowers and the surrounding cedar and pine forests.
The property has been constructed in traditional style offering a real chance to experience an authentic insight into life in the hills with a few luxuries thrown in such as piping hot water and bed tea.
The food again, reflects the local age old traditions and is a delicious culinary adventure. This is served either in the dinning room or outside in your own private dining area overlooking the mountains.
The staff also add to your stay and are discreet but warm and attentive.
The overall effect is very much of coming home and it is very difficult to leave.

We booked this place to take a break from the city madness during Covid lockdown.
This place delivered at all our expectations, The property is set in the middle of nowhere near Jageshwar Temple, a 10hour drive from Delhi.
A 15mins moderate trek downhill from the main road takes you to well made, stone n granite style cottages. The thing that sets this place apart from similar properties is the excellent service by their local staff. A special mention to Govind Ji, Chacha, Maali bhaiya and Ms. Bhawna, they really know how to take care of the guests.
Food was also above our expectations, really appreciate the efforts of chef to personalise our meals according to our mood for the day.
Our only regret is that we stayed for just 4 days and the mega spiders in our rooms.
Would like to visit again.

The place is nestled among the Jageshwar hills near Almora. The staff is extremely kind and warm and at no point gave us any reason to complain. Food is good and personalised to your taste. To reach the Lodges are located at a 20 minute hike up and down so you’ll need to consider that fact.

Access to this place is hard to access-park the car 3/4 KMS away in village and then aa steep 20 minute downward climb in a small narrow path, but end of it the place is worth the hard trek!

Stayed in one of the old kumaoni rooms. Very big and tastefully done (a wonderful bathroom which my daughter loved totally!)

The staff are very attentive and helpful. Do light small bonfires in from of each room in the large patio every night. The rooms come with wonderful view of snow clad mountains and the patio is a lovely place to sit and while away time

The food is excellent and try to have breakfast lunch outside the restaurant once. The setting for outside breakfast/lunch is very good and pictures come out like post card pictures!

We had an amazing time in itmenaan... In absolute peace in the lap of nature. Mornings had this amazing view of snow brushed Himalayas. Away from hustle bustle Of city we had a great time reading books, lazying around and eating great food. The hospitality and staff out here was outstanding - Above and beyond their call of duty. Bhawna the manager was very helpful, polite and helped us get here despite so many directions calls. Also she made sure we were looked after well in the property. Shivraj and Govind the staff who helped us with everything were so helpful - always with a big smile on their face and made sure we are very very comfortable all through the stay. Shivraj and Govind gives a glimpse of pahadi people - warm and simple hearted. Experience of dining in front of Himalayas to seeing so many stars in the night with warm campfire and waking up to majestic views of Himalayas coupled with very warm hospitality made our memories of life time. We had a blast and the only regret we couldn't stay longer. Thank you for this experience and keep up the good work

Dear Shantanu j

Thank you so much for your insightful review. We are truly humbled by your gracious comments on the property, the service and our teams at Itmenaan Estate.

It is our constant endeavour to provide an alternate hospitality and adventure experience to our guests. As you know, Itmenaaan is also an acronym that stands for Relaxation'. All our resort attempts to move away from the regular vacation experience and it is indeed heartwarming to learn that this unique concept is being noticed and applauded by discerning guests.

We hope to welcome you back to Itmenaan Estate and our other properties in the future and in the meantime, do keep in touch via our social media sites on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram to stay updated with all our latest news.

A brilliant few days exploring this beautiful area of the Himalayan foothills. We couldn’t have been looked after better: accommodation with stunning views of the mountains; log fires to keep us warm in the cold evenings; excellent food made using locally grown ingredients and such attentive staff. When our plans had to be changed, everyone went out of their way to sort things to suit us best. Nothing was too much trouble. Many thanks indeed!
