The park is really nice to walk through. Lots of private spots and beautifull area's. Too bad it closes so early.

Schloss Bruehl / Schloss Bruhl / Scloss Augustusburg / Bruhl Palace is one and the same place. You may want to search reviews for the different names it goes.

It's a bit unfair to really compare, I know, but Palaces of wealthy muckety-mucks are difficult to not stack rank in the mind’s eye. And while it does not reach the grandeur of Versailles or intimate Rococo style of Palace Sanssouci, Schlösser Brühl (Augustusburg /Falkenlust) does not disappoint.

The grounds are extraordinarily pleasant for an enjoyable and scenic stroll, and the hunting lodge (Falkenlust) is downright amazing for a small space palace. It was used to stage falcon hunts ... and you can imagine the scene of aristocrats parading at the beginning and end of a hunt.

The main palace (Augutsusburg) has an amazing entry, and the guide takes you from entry, up the fabulous Rococo stair and around through truly palatial doors and spaces … and spacious, though not grand, servants areas.

Unlike Versailles and Sanssouci, there is still much restoration in process here, but it does not stand in the way of an informative, and enjoyable tour. Allow at least 3 hours. More if you like to truly bask in the gardens and setting.

The venue is located in the city centre of Bruehl. Parking is possible, free on Sunday, on the Belvedere Parking. Actually there are two palaces; the Augustusburg and Falkenlust palace. The Augustusburg palace is the bigger one. The Falkenlust palace is the “hunting lodge” (mainly used for falconry in the old times.) of the main palace and can be reached by foot from the main palace garden. The palaces were built at the beginning of the 18th century by the Archbishop-Elector of Cologne, Clemens August of Bavaria of the Wittelsbach family. The Augustugsburg palace is based on an old fort which was built in the 12th century. The construction were started in 1725. Falkenlust was started to be built in 1729. The inside of the palaces can only be visited by guided tour which I can recommend. The interior is beautiful and worth a visit, like the palace garden.

Visited as part of an Amsterdam to Budapest river cruise. Magnificent buildings and gardens. Walking was easy and it did not take long to see all of it. Best seen as a guided tour as it has a lot of history. A must see attraction.
