“Great hospitality!”

Satyendra and Kay made our visit to Bandhavgarph extraordinary! Satyendra was extremely helpful from quick responses to my emails, accommodating when our train was 4 hours late, to remembering my desire to ride elephant hence went out of his way to arrange private elephant rides for us when we arrived!

Satyendra and Kay are very knowledgeable and passionate about the tigers in Bandhavgarph and they shared their stories and experiences with us freely during our 2-night stay. Satyendra came along on our safari the last morning and because of his experience of judging the tiger warning calls, we had a tiger walked right to the jeep, while all the other jeeps gave up waiting and left earlier.

The huts are simple but the meals at Skay's camp were delicious. We picked eggplants out of their garden and they will be cooked for our next meal. We sat around the fire pit for dinner and listened to tiger tales every night, it was an extra-ordinary experience, thanks to Satyendra and Kay!

If you want to meet people with excellent knowledge of tigers Kay is a specialist of tigers and other wildlife in the national park. Rooms are very basic, four concrete wall and floor, and two beds. It was a bit cold at night in december they provided a hot water bottle, The time we spend there they're was no hot water, it was solar power, but we didn't manage to get any. The morning before the games, you get some biscuits and the, then the breakfast is good, a very light lunch and a nice diner around the fire with the hosts. But the grounds of Skay's camp are good for relaxing between game drives, and a place with Wi FI in the garden, If it's important for you to be able to discuss with experience host , then it's for you. But do not expect comfort. The driver was very respectful of the wild life. The only con at the end of our stay , one of the meme of the staff came in our room and ask for 500 rupee tips. It's nt that we will not give a tip, but I do think we should be able to chose when and how much we will give. I thought that it was a bit rude. If you go to Bandhavgarh park just to see tiger, and do not want to learn about the park animals, you could save some money and stay in the small town for a lot cheaper then 90$ a day.

What sets this place apart is the hosts. Make no mistake, this is not the Hilton, and Satyendra and Kay will be the first to tell you that. But they make the visit so much more special by their attention to detail and knowledge of the park.

The Tiwari's seem to know more about the movement of tigers than all the other official park guides (combined). Several times we saw other vehicles following pug marks that were in fact 2-3 day old. Having Kay (Satyendra accompanied other guests) with us for the game drives made a HUGE difference.

Furthermore, Satyendra's experience in the hotel industry means he has good contacts all over India. We heard tales by the campfire of guests saved from misfortune - amazing Satyendra doesn't make a habit of charging for his services - instead gaining personal pleasure from offering service (something all too often missing from Indian tourism). Indeed, it is their efforts to make sure guests are comfortable that makes Skay's camp so special; hot water bottles at night, hot soup by the fire, ensuring you are well fed for your onward journey.

And the food is seriously good and plentiful. I'm sure I put on kgs in our 6day stay. The grounds are planted with various fruit trees, so depending on the season of your stay you'll be invited to pick fruit to eat straight off the tree.

I would highly recommend Skay's Camp to anyone interested in wildlife, photography etc. Don't expect 5 star hotel facilities - its more homely and simple. But you can bet you'll be really well looked after.

If you want a great experience in Bandhavgarh this is a superb place to stay. The personal service provided is excellent and Satyendra and Kay's knowledge of tigers and other wildlife in the national park is unrivalled. Rooms are simple but well furnished and comfortable and the food is rustic and plentiful. The grounds of Skay's camp are good for birding between game drives and the garden is a great place to sit and relax. If you want razzle-dazzle and boozy entertainment - forget it! If you like wildlife and gentle relaxation after the intense excitement of seeing a wild tiger, this is for you.

I got in touch with Satyendra ji who lives in Skay's camp to find out more about touring Bandhavgarh and he not only helped make our bookings for park trips but also arranged for our stay in Skay's camp which is named after him and his wife Kay. We had a great time with my wife savoring the trees and birds in this large 2 acre natural haven and my daughter having a great time with Kay's cats who are quite a bundle of energy. The best part of the stay was a trip to Pataur village one evening in the buffer area which is also a great option for chancing up on the occasional big cat and plenty of natural jungle vegetation that can be savored at peace unlike inside the park where it is mostly a race to nail the tiger. We also got an opportunity to listen to both Satyendra ji and Kay's experiences with the tigers on their regular trips in and around Tala and how the tigers have evolved since the last decade. The food during our four day stay was the best i have ever had in any hotel and quite healthy too. I would unhesitatingly recommend Skay's camp to anyone wanting to savor Bandhavgarh to the fullest.
