“Avoid if Possible”
2 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 15 May 2010

I decided to take a short break due to continuous holidays. We decided to go to Mount Abu as most of hill station in western terain were already seen by us. The view from the room was just ok
The interior of the room, selection of toiletteries and other facilities in the room were POOR.The ventilation as well as availability of basic amenities such as hot water it self was restricted.
. The only consolation was proximity to Site Seeing Spots but that is a very small consolation.Personally I would like to avoid like plague

I visited Mount Abu with my Hubby & inlaws, to celebrate my first anniversary We stayed in this hotel for 4 nights. I had booked a family room (well they have only 1 family room) that too NON A/C... rediculous..... before entering the hotel on the door step the guy who bragged "I AM THE MANAGER" asked us to pay the whole remaining payment without even taking notice that we have been travelling all the way from Udaipur for four hours.....(no humanity) well we paid the remaining amount. Now comes the room..... A NON A/C room ok we thought we would adjust with the help of the fan but OH MY GOD to our surprise there was only 1 fan in the whole room that too fan was blowing near the dressing table, no fan for the beds...... whole night we couldnt sleep as it was so hot...... when we complained the manager he replied we have ordered for fans from Ahmedabad, God alone knows how we managed sleeping on the floor near the dressing table....... No Morning tea.... order an hour before & u will be charged 15Rs per cup..... food cost double then the local its seems he feeds the guest rice costing 60Rs Kg.... But after eating we realised that rice was worth to be fed to cows..... bathroom pathetic.... no hot water as taps were not working.... no light as tubelight was spoiled.... Good surrounding but hopeless ppl to manage, many other things...... Overall I request PLSSSSSSSSSSSS never go to this hotel u'll spoil ur tour.....

"hot water " for showers is only available between 0800 and 0900 says the large notice which greets you in reception. However , watching the lad feeding tiny twigs onto a smoky fire lit beneath a metal drum at the far end of of an extremely long building with a snaggle of external pipes for plumbing I doubted that there would EVER be any hot water reaching the rooms at the opposite end. Would be more honest to say that there was no hot water at all. Check out of room is at the ridiculously early 0900 hours causing a rushed exit in the morning for all. - other hotels manage a more comfortable, later time, why not here? There's no restarant, only trays brought to rooms. Breakfasts like omlettes, toast etc obviously suffer in the long walk from the kitchens, up various external staircases and walkways which are the only access points. Gardens are nice.

I stayed at Rising Sun Retreat in the last week of Dec 2009.

The best part about this hotel is its location & kind of natural plants & exotic vegetations they have. It is the first hotel when you just enter Mt Abu check post. Though Nakki lake is another 3-4 minutes drive away.

It is very natural with lovely gardens, nursery , plants & greenery all around. It is actually a guest house kind of place , not like a hotel. It is a perfect place for families with kids, who wil not feel bored inside rooms as they have nice trees, vegetations & natural gardens all around to play. But dont expect a hotel kind of stay or services.

The services are there, but are very down to earth & decent just like the hotel. But certainly the fresh air & feel that you get here you will not get anywhere else. Its an ideal place to enjoy the Mt Abu mornings, & see the birds & plants around you. Its like a natural habitat.

There is no restraunt , but they arrange for dinner if you order them beforehand. Tea/coffee/breakfast are present. I was lucky to get a room with geyser, else they provide hot water in tubs in morning. The rooms were clean & decent.

I was really happy to stay here ( not like the usual hotel stuff)

  • Liked — Its plants & vegetation
  • Disliked — lack of restraunt
