We booked a superior one bed apartment direct with the hotel and requested a room close to all amenities due to one of our party having mobility problems. I could tell from the map there would be a number of steps to overcome but didn't realise the extent of steps up and down to reach other apartments and the small pool, it really was a little rabbit warren. The A/C was fantastic, in fact it was like walking into a fridge and had to be turned down on occasions. It also worked whilst the patio door was open!
Having requested an apartment near to reception and the main pool, we had to forfeit our superior room which didn't allow direcit access from the bedroom to the balcony/terrace or an extra wardrobe in the living area. This wasn't pointed out to us prior to arrival but we managed, and cannot fault the rooms, staff or cleanliness of this beautiful newish establishment.
The pool was fantastic however the only let down was the lack of toilet facilities near the pool areas! You had to either use the reception toilets which weren't that close to the pool when dripping wet, or use your own bathroom in your apartment which we found a lot easier being room 103. The lack of toilet facilities near the pool will definitely encourage people to pee in it which isn't hygienic or a nice thought. There was no reserving of sun beds and this was highlighted by the various notices around the pool and the restaurant. This meant that you could have breakfast between 8.30 and 9.00 and there would be plenty of beds to choose from. Come midday, you don't stand a chance of getting a bed. I can't understand why they have not made use of the upper gravel area (near the small car park and children's playground) for another tier of sun beds and toilet facilities!
All the staff were absolutely amazing from Bruce Lee (the unforgettable knowledgeable night porter), to the cleaners who cleaned our room daily. The Reception Manager was fantastic and gave us herbs from his garden to take home at the end of our holiday. Chef Gianni was really funny and we thoroughly enjoyed our morning chats. All the waiting staff were extremely friendly and welcoming. This little gem was close to the many bars and restaurants in the village of Koutouloufari.
There are plenty of cheaper apartments in Koutouloufari but the extra touch and finer attention to detail here, makes these apartments stand out from the others.
Would we return, most definitely,
