You never can tell exactly what you are going to get, even with pages of positive reviews. I have just returned from a 7 night stay here with my girlfriend and we were both very impressed!

The apparently itself was basic but clean comfortable an serviced every day. The hotel is in a nice quiet area and the staff were very friendly and helpful. We didn't see much of the hotel site really, we spend about an hour at one of the pools and ate at tho pool bar/ restaurant on the first night, but for us the best way to spend our week was to rent a car and explore the island.

It is extremely easy to drive around and see lost of different towns, villages and loads of beaches, the longest drive was around 90 mins to the south coast o the island which was well worth it. My advice is to rent from a local place and don't bother with the rates you will be offered at the hotel reception. Locally you can get a small car for around 130 euros vs about 220 at the hotel.

In the evenings we went back to te apartment, changed and then walked 5 mins to koutouloufari where there are lots of high quality but cheap restaurants. Our favourite was a place called 'mesez' ran by a mixed English/ Greek family. A great way to really learn about how you should eat Greek food with a 10 or 11 course meal costing 15 euros each!

I would definitely go back to this hotel and am looking forward to retiring to Crete.

Stayed in one of the superior 2 bedroom appartments. Spotlessly clean, lovely pools(3)in a quiet village set above Herssonisos with spectacular views. Great to sit on the balcony with a g+t in hand listening to the bells of the goats coming home
Excellent staff, special thanks to Dimitris, Oxi and Dutch lady on reception whose help and advice made the trip more enjoyable.
Many repeat clients, I can see why!
Don't tell everyone though! :-)
Lots of good places to eat within walking distance and a lovely bakery 50yards from the entrance to the complex.
They even arranged an airport pick up for us which took us right to the door of our appartment.

Room Tip: Best rooms are at the top of the hill but quite a slog up not for those with walking difficulties

We have just stayed at The Marni Village with our two children. It was lovely, set in an elevated position away from the busier resorts the hotel is clean and comfortable. Service was excellent and all staff were friendly and had time for the guests. The rooms are typical of a good value Greek hotel, basic, serviceable and clean. Towels and sheets changed three times during the week. If you really felt the need to make more than a cup of tea the rooms were kitted out sufficiently.

The pools (3) were all lovely, again clean and food at the hotel fine for breakfast and light snacks. A short stroll into Koutouloufari where there are numerous bars and restaurants in what is a completely unspoilt village. If you feel the need for more life you can walk into Hersonissos (we didn't bother) or a taxi to Malia - wished we hasn't bothered.

A great find, would hope to be back at some point.

My husband, son and I spent two weeks here in May 2012.

These apartments were fantastic and the staff were so pleasant and helpful. We had a one bedroomed apartment which was well equiped and very comfortable.

The bar area provided excellent food and the staff were so friendly and even phoned a local pharmacy for us when my son had a blocked ear and arranged for us to go and collect drops for them.

The bakery at the entrance to the apartments was fantastic and had great doughnuts!!

The village of Koutouloufari is only a couple of minutes away and is lovely with it's little quaint streets. Just watch out for cars coming through can be a tight squeeze!!. Lots of places to eat and nice little shops. Our favourites were Ariadni and Oniro. We visited Oniro on several occassions and always found the food and service to be outstanding. Well done Eleni and Yiannis. We also walked to the neighbouring villages of Piskopiano and Old Hersonissos.

We ventured down into Hersonissos a few times there is a nice harbour and lot of shops to choose from. We tried every route down and found the best one to be walk into Koutouloufari and take the second turning on the right past the church. Turn left at the church. This route seemed to be the one that had the least gradiant.

We took the trip to Spinalonga while we were there this was a very beautiful part of the island with stunning views. We also spent time in Agios Nikolas during the trip and this was very nice with a lovely lake with lots of places to eat. There were alos a lot of nice shops.

Overall we loved this holiday it was very relaxing but if you wanted more night life you could go down the hill to Hersonissos so all in all there is something for everyone.

We will definately return.
Well done Marni Village.

We have just returned from a wonderful two weeks at the Marni Village. Arriving late at night we were met with a big smile from the reception staff and shown to our simple studio, which was excellent - clean and tidy with lots of room and a patio with wonderful views of the gardens and the sea. Our room was cleaned every day and the bedding changed at least twice a week. The cleaning staff always greeted us with a smile, a hello and good morning whenever they came to our room.

The complex is beautifully presented, with well maintained gardens and differing styles of buildings. Simple studios to villas for 8 people with private pools are available on the site. By having three pools finding somewhere to relax and swim was never an issue. All pools are very clean with pool bars at the top and bottom one's.The middle pool is where the main bar is situated and food is also available. The staff here are again wonderful and nothing is too much trouble - Vangelis, Zaga, Manos and Eleonor plus the two chefs make sure everything is just right for you but be aware of the raki !!!

Turn left out of the complex you will find the villages of Koutouloufari, Piskopiano and Old Hersonnisos - all within walking distance. Here you will find shops, tavernas and bars of all size and shapes. Where to eat ? We tried numerous places and all gave us good food and a warm welcome ..... and more raki !!! Explore the villages and you will, I am certain, find your favourites. Ours would include Mythos Cafe, for a pre-dinner drink, and then onto Astonisos, for a wonderful home cooked meze, and then maybe Cafe Dionysos for a nightcap or maybe .... you choose

We met some wonderful people during our stay who, during very difficult times, are working very hard to ensure that you have a superb time. We certainly did and cannot wait to go back to visit a beautiful place and visit people who became our friends.

A wonderful and thoroughly enjoyable holiday!!!
