My wife and I have just spent 10 most memorable days at Zoe House. The location is superb with breathtaking views of Sami harbour across the bay and the mountains of Ithica. The apartment itself was beautiful, tastefully furnished and superbly equipt with everything you could possibly need for your stay. The managers, Nick and Sarah, were there to greet us on our arrival and throughout our stay were only too willing to help us if need be We cannot compliment them highly enough on their kindness. We would not hesitate to recomend Zoe House for a wonderfully relaxing holiday.

“Very comfortable and in great location”
Reviewed 29 August 2012 for a stay in August 2012

This is a very comfortable villa - good quality furnishings, beds and bathrooms. It is well serviced with fresh linens every few days, the pool was always very clean, and it was a bonus that it is managed by an English couple who were able to give us guidance before travel and deal with any minor issues while we were there. It is thoughtfully equipped - even items like dishwasher tablets and filter coffee are provided.

It's an excellent base, with a beach across the road, a picturesque taverna 100m away plus a couple of others within walking distance, and a wonderful bakery in the village. Swimming across the road is gorgeous, calm waters, and you will often have the beach to yourself. However it's quite rocky and slippy underfoot and there are sea urchins, so you need to be wearing shoes and it might not be suitable for very young children.

It was very peaceful even in August, and many of the other holidaymakers were Greek. We much preferred it here to the sandy south which we have visited before, and which can be heaving with Brits. But it's worth noting that these three villas are part of a larger complex of 20+ villas. When we travelled in August 2012 most of these were unfinished or unlet, but from a peace and privacy aspect it could be different if these were all full. There is not a lot of room around the pool, and the balcony could potentially be overlooked by 6/8 others. At the moment it's a bargain for the space, location and facilities you get, but if you are reading this several years later it might be worth checking how many apartments are being used if this would bother you.

There are further fantastic beaches a short drive in either direction - Anti-Samos for wonderful snorkelling, and Agias Paraskevi which has a series of 4/5 white pebble coves which you can easily swim between, an excellent taverna above them, and a shady garden where you can lie blissfully under olive trees. At night you can get to Sami or Ag. Efimias in 10 minutes' drive for a wide choice of restaurants along the seafront. In conclusion everything you need for the perfect Greek holiday.

Liked best: Wonderful sea views from the balcony and the peace of the area
Liked least: That there were more properties on the site/sharing the pool than we had realised

Management Response
22 Aug 2013
I am very glad for your kind words. Just to remind you that all the other properties (except from the 9 already used) are intended to be sold. With the crisis it will take ages to do so. As for the privacy, Zoe is quite covered and private with all the plantation around it. With prices comparable to a hotel, trust me but it is value for money. For total isolation you should rent a villa next time. Many thanks.

“Amazing house in a beautiful location”
Reviewed 14 August 2012 for a stay in August 2012

We had never been to Kefalonia before so had no idea of the location of the house or indeed whether it would be what we hoped it would be. Were we disappointed, absolutely not. This is one of those places you always hope to find but never really do. Can't say enough good things about it.
The house is beautifully decorated throughout and you instantly feel at home as soon as you walk through the door. Everything you could possibly need for your stay was there. The rooms are spacious, particularly the ground floor bedrooms which lead onto a private terrace. The other double bedroom is on the upper floor adjacent to the living room and opens out onto a lovely balcony with fantastic views of the sea and Ithaca, a great place to sit and chill or eat a meal. The balcony also overlooks the swimming pool which the kids loved and was very clean.
The walk to Sami takes about 20 minutes along the beach and there are a wide range of restaurants here to choose from. We tried quite a few and they were all really good and excellent value for money. An average meal for 2 adults and 2 teenagers with wine and soft drinks would cost approx 50 euros.
The beach opposite the house consists mainly of pebbles and the sea here, whilst beautifully clear, is rocky underfoot but great for swimming although beach shoes are recommended and can be bought in Sami if you don't take them with you.
The Taverna Karavomilos is only 50 yards away and in a lovely setting. Great for a glass or two of wine or a nice cold beer at the end of the day.
The house is managed by an English couple, Nick and Sarah, who went out of their way to make sure our stay was enjoyable and stress free and really made us feel welcome.
All in all a great property in a great place and will definitely be back.

“A little slice of paradise”
Reviewed 5 August 2012 for a stay in July 2012

Zoe House was as gorgeous as it looks in the pictures, and the pool, which was brand new and handn't been advertised, was an added bonus. The house was beautifully furnished with excellent resources and facilities.
Nick and Sarah were invaluable, providing us with helpful local knowledge, a fantastic housekeeping service and plenty of Sarah's fabulous homemade products (you must try her tapenade!).
The local beach was exactly as it looks in the pictures and was literally outside the apartment- an incredible view to wake up to! If you fancy something bigger then drive down the coast towards Agia Efimia and pull up at any of the beautiful coves on the way. Our favourite beach, recommended to us by Nick and Sarah, was Antisamos, about 15 minutes away by car - crystal clear water and fab beach bar cocktails and food, surrounded by idyllic mountain scenery.
One warning for newcomers; the road signs between the airport and the capital Argostoli aren't great, so if you can get hold of a reliable roadmap, it might be wise to do so. Once you get used to the roads however, they're not a problem.
Zoe House was a beautiful location to avoid the midday sun and come back to for a relaxed barbecue in the evening. We would reccommend it wholeheartedly; it was the perfect holiday destination.
