“Indifferent Attitude”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 21 April 2012

This place has some very nice features but we were put off by the indifferent, unfriendly front desk during check in.
The room was good, clean, large, good view but no balcony. The pool nice, the grounds nice and it is right on the lake with many houseboats going by. The restaurant was pretty good but it was funny in that it was buffet but the many many waiters just kind of got in your way, telling you about every dish. I know they were just trying to be helpful but really it's a buffet !
Annoyed that they burn garbage and the toxic smoke was blowing towards our room, could not sit outside.

Check in was efficient and we were offered coconut water to welcome us. Rooms were basic but clean and all the amenities one would want from a 4 star hotel room. The bathroom was not good as there was no barrier between shower and toilet. Hence if you were having a shower the whole toilet would get flooded. Bad designing. Otherwise hotel was gorgeous with a clean pool and a good restaurant. However service was slow. The hotel offered us a free evening lake cruise.lots of different species of birds in the well maintained gardens. A bird watchers paradise! We stayed at this hotel for only one night and wished we had stayed for 2.

Room Tip: Ask for a room near the lake however these rooms are superior category ones and you might need to pa...

The setting of this hotel and resort is very beautiful with lush, well tended gardens, excellent pools and the view of the lake beyond. The hotel is low rise and the architecture is very attractive.
The members of staff are very friendly and helpful and always seem to be smiling. The breakfast buffet was good and the evening buffet was quite reasonable and traditional musicians were playing during the meal.
I really enjoyed using the swimming pool which was clean and attractive but there were not enough loungers during our stay.
We stayed as part of a tour and seemed to get a budget room with no view. It was clean and comfortable but in the bathroom, the toilet and shower were behind the same shower curtain. There was no hairdryer or safe in the room. Also I really don't think hotels should charge for wifi these days.
I would love to stay there again but would be very specific about the type of room I wanted. See other reviews for helpful suggestions.

Room Tip: Ask for an upgraded, garden or lake view room

e traveled as a couple in late January 2012...I am very much surprised that why this excellent resort is having so much less reviews on trip advisor....this hotel is having 2 different names in this website......any ways..this resort was excellent..My wife told me that this was even better than other 5 star properties which she earlier traveled...after some thinking & last trip i found that she is right..!!!
-Location at the lake was awesome..Ducks swimming in the channels were looking good...
-Dinner was the Best..Sweet Paneer Pasanda was the best Paneer in the whole India..That was very surprising for me as Paneer dishes are predominantly north-Indian Sabjee, but Full marks to chef for that...Staff was courteous & helpful...
- Lakeside Zula(Swinging bed) was nice...
-Evening time complementary boat cruse was terrific...
-Sunset view from the Resort was worth paying for......
-Only problem was lakeside mosquitoes-although hotel staff was trying to control it with medicated smoke but mosquitoes were large in number..so take your replants with you...
-Back water channels in side the resort was good..You can yourself have a Seekara cruze in it...which was a nice experience.
-Final Verdict---Excellent.....!!!

During a tour trough Kerala we stayed for two nights at Lakesong from which we discovered the Backwaters of Kumarakom. On arrival in the lobby we noticed a canal, entering into the building,(photo 1) and within we found a canoe whereby it was possible to navigate trough the gardens using the multiple canals. The Ashtamudi-room situated on the first floor really pleased us;clean, spacious, tiled floor, good bed and a nice bathroom(photo 2).Just outside the door we found two umbrellas, free to use in case of rain showers. We also participated the (free-of-charge) sunset-cruise, offered by the hotel, recommended for great picture-opportunities.Every morning at our doorstep a newspaper (english) was provided. Wi-fi available at cost, but out of order at the time of our stay. The garden and pool are well maintaind, at the backside the only border is the lake so the view is great. Breakfast was served at the main restaurant with enough choice concerning continental food (eggs, bacon, cheese, etc.) but more important to us ; an Indian corner with lokal specialities, when visiting a country we like to try and eat similar to the indigenous people. Diner was served as a buffet(photo 3),alongside international plates we had the possibility to taste and eat Indian dishes, whenever we were in doubt which plates to combine, the friendly staff told us how to do. We had a fine time at this hotel.
