My girlfriend and I stayed in the Shepherds Hut last week for a couple of nights and it was wonderful! It's stunning inside and out. No detail has been overlooked or corners cut. Calling it a shepherds hut does not do it justice, the inside felt more like a cosy farmhouse with everything you'd expect from a hotel. It's fitted with everything you could want; Smeg cooker/oven, fridge/freezer, Temper mattress with down dived and pillows, electric shower with complementary shampoos etc. Everything was high quality and expertly finished. The woodwork inside is incredible, all made from a fallen tree from the farm. The hut also has a lovely wood burner which completes it, logs/kindling all provided. It's hard to believe that it was all built from scratch but it's obvious and amazing how much care and passion has gone into it. We looked at several huts like this and this was by far the best.
We arrived to find fresh bread, bacon and sausages, fresh eggs (from the hens on the farm) and jams/butter in the fridge. There were also bottles of wine and some locally distilled gin ready to go! Everything except the alcohol and meats were complementary, amazing.
The location is great, set on a working farm and surrounded by fields. Just outside the hut is a seating area with BBQ and firepit. The local area is beautiful, we wandered to a couple of pubs nearby and took a ride out to The Chase Inn with its incredible view from the rear garden.
Alec and Catriona are the perfect hosts, very welcoming and made our stay that bit better. They treated us to some local meats, homemade soup and even trusted us with their adorable collie Evie to walk around the farm.
I cannot recommend this place enough and will definitely be returning!
