This is a small hotel, nevertheless it's perfectly organized and very well set up building. The rooms are very comfortable and pleasant to be in. The food is yummy and the crowd is kind and very helpful with anything you need. The location is perfect because it's very close to the town's main square, but far enough to have a very quiet and peaceful environment. I highly recommend it.

We really liked this hotel boutique. It's small, just 13 rooms but that's what we liked about it. The room was great; it's not overly big but just right for my wife and me staying for just one night. Hotel looks good, new and well decorated. Room is well-kept and clean. Bed is comfortable for sleeping. The bathroom, shower are right on. Service is friendly and attentive. Whenever we come back to Villa de Leyva, this is where we will stay.

I, my good Colombian friend and his lovely family just stayed 2 nights at the Hotel Casa Real Villa de Leyva in the beautiful Colombian town of Villa de Leyva. In Europe, this would be a 4 and maybe even a 5 star hotel in that although it is small, it exhibits luxury across all areas of operation as well as having an excellent design quality and attention to detail. Needless to say, all the staff from the maids to the owners (who were always around) were genuinely committed to optimizing our experience. The rooms are outstanding with elegant decoration, extraordinarily comfortable beds, and spacious bathrooms. Best of all, the restaurant was so good that, in spite of the fact that Villa de Layva has many fine restaurants, along with breakfast (get the strawberry pancakes!) we chose to eat many of our dinners there. Together with the fact that the prices were lower than you would ever expect from this caliber hotel, when I return to Villa de Leyva I will be staying at the Hotel Casa Real Villa de Leyva. By the way, the hotel is not in the center of town, but a pleasant 0.5 km (5-10 minute) walk from the Plaza Major. Thus, we had convenient access to the town, in a quieter location.

Room tip: If you are a couple, ask for one of the larger double rooms. I had 207, which was fantastic.

I traveled with my family... 2 rooms (4 people)
We were impressed with the hotel, amazing rooms, outstanding pool ... Great service.

On our first night after a dip in the pool my sister took a shower with such bad luck that water started going eveywhere in the bathroom; the shower wasn't built correctly to keep water with such great pressure to stay where it was supposed to.
After about 1-2 min in she realized what was going on and started screaming for help to dry the bathroom since she had made a mess... By this time the shower was off of a while and back on with very low pressure to keep the water contained.
I went fast to see and water was a bit outside on the bathroom, going into the washroom area which has hardwood floors....
Dried thoroughly... Called reception for a mop and that was it.
Went to the other room to see if that happened to my parents but their shower had a much pronounced division so that wasn't an issue here.

Next day I woke up and saw that right where the water touched the wood for obvious reasons it had inflated a bit as wood does...I was surprised.

Anyways everything kept going perfect, short showers with low pressure ... Everything fine.

The surprise came at check out when we paid for our stay and had the lady tell us we owed xxx amount of money for the wood and that if we didn't pay it would go straight to their lawyers...

We weren't trying to scape or anything to have been treated as thieves. Also they kept insisting the room wasn't good to keep renting so we should pay for they time it would be kept out of service when what happened was barely visible ...
Anyways we offered some money which wasn't good enough for the owner who called and from being a nice respectful person ended up being completely disrespectful and completely unqualified to treat customers....
My dad talked to her and ended up raising his voice over how she treated him, with no solution whatsoever....
One of the ladies at the front desk kept threatening us with lawyers... Which is not precisely what you would expect from someone who treats customers everyday and should be trying to find a solution...

Anyways don't know what this is going to end up with
But I'm attaching pics of the shower and the hardwood floor so you can judge for yourself.
Shameful
We really wanted to go back....

Villa de Leyva is one of my favorite spots in South America. Its Spaniard colonial charm. the original stone streets, the large central square, every turn brings the discovery of a new private courtyard serving up laughter music fun and fare. The Hotel Casa Real was the best experience by far. It has the feel of a royal palace in a small boutique hotel operated by a husband and wife team of young entrepreneurs. They carefully craft each experience and provide 5 star service in the spacious luxurious rooms. The staff is extra friendly and the charm is unsurpassed.

Room tip: All rooms are well appointed. I recommend their presidential suites.
