I loved this Albuergue. I had read about it on a Pilgrims app I was using and decided; rather than stay in Portomarín, I would stay in Vilachá.
I'm so happy I made that choice.
Gordon is a wonderful host.
Very attentive and knowledgeable about everything "Camino".
I arrived injured from the Camino where I scraped my knee.
After a nice hot shower and a change of clothes, Gordon was very kind to tend to my injured knee.
Gordon prepared me a nice cup of hot tea prior to dinner and set up the fireplace and gave me a blanket.
It was so relaxing and I enjoyed the peaceful atmosphere after a rough day on the Camino.
Dinner was wonderful. Afterwards, we (the other Pilgrims and I along with Gordon) sat around the table; drank wine and beer and had a lively conversation.
It was the perfect end to a perfect day.
The next morning, we were treated to a wonderful "desayuno". Café con leche, tostadas, soft boiled eggs, orange juice, yogurt and strawberries.
Gordon made sure I was ok to walk and gave me instructions to go directly to the farmacia in Portomarín and get betadine, hydrogen peroxide and bandages to keep the scrape from becoming infected.
I didn't want to leave.
I would love to return to Vilachá and Casa Banderas one day to work as a hospitalero/a.
Don't pass up this wonderful Pilgrims oasis!
