We visited this restaurant for my wife's 50th birthday, on a Monday. Whilst Al Galu is closed on that day, we had been in touch because of their excellent gluten free credentials (one of our friends is coeliac). They immediately offered to open on the Monday to accommodate us! We agreed to have set menus - one meat and one veggie, at €50 each, with drinks extra. I frankly lost count of the number of courses, probably five or six, and the quality of the food was absolutely stunning. The staff were really friendly and kind, and the restaurant is a lovely, friendly space. We all left delighted with the meal we had, so I would give Al Galu our strongest recommendation...

The food was very well prepared with care, and with love for the ingredients that made up the food. The pasta was perfectly al dente and the fish flaked of the fork. A good selection of honestly priced wines only added to the overall enjoyment. We took the recommendations of our waiter and were not let down. My only regret is that we did not have the time to sample dessert.

... there is a hidden “must eat here” restaurant.
I will probably remember mostly the atmosphere of a quiet little street and the service (our waiter was really passionate about what they cook as well as the wines they have), but the food was amazing as well. My tip is try grilled octopus (polpo) or squid spaghetti (which is not a pasta but indeed a very well cooked squid pretending to be spaghetti). Another proof they not only cook well here but also have good sense of humor - “cannolo non cannolo”, the typical sweet pastry here is a starter filled with fish mousse instead of sweet cheese. Tastes great.
Desert cannolo is also nice, but don’t expect it to be a classical design - they serve it as crumbles instead of pastry “tube”.
Best crudita (raw fish and seafood) I’ve tried in Sicily and in addition at reasonable price.
Enjoy!

We were definitely driven by the positive reviews and the place did not disappoint at all. Starting from the fact we found the TripAdvisor page open on their computer gave us the feeling they truly care about reviews and customer service, something that is NOT common in Italy and Sicily particularly. We had the 60€ tasting menu and did not regret it at all, combined with the wine tasting as well. It was just fantastic. The place is a bit hard to find as google truly gets you lost but so worth the missed streets. Don’t look further this is where you should dine if you come to Scicli. The fish tasting we chose was awesome, everything fresh and the surprise element as chosen by the chef was appreciated. I still missed the risotto so we will be coming back for sure.

The place is hidden behind a bustling street in a great location, beautifully curated inside. We chose the fish tasting menu, the chef prepares surprise dishes for you, you only need to declare allergens and something you don't like. My favourite were the antipasto with raw red prawns and mazzancolle with fried lentils, than we had a delicious cod cream with what looked like a cannolo shell pastry. Two pasta dishes, I liked the ricotta filled ravioli in a red prawns broth. Vines to match and an excellent service made this place the best of the holiday.
