“Great location and had a wonderful stay.”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 27 June 2012

I just spent 7 nights at The Regent and enjoyed my stay immensely.
The resort is lovely, 2 nice pools, 1 with a swim up bar, beautiful gardens and scenery.
The best asset the Regent has though are the staff. From the moment of check in, they were as helpful and friendly as anyone could want. Not once did I pass a staffer without them giving a big smile and a warm greeting. Special mention goes to Katty who went out of her way to help me with a couple of issues of mine.
The location is fantastic, close to all the action on Chaweng (good and bad, no i don't want a fn suit thanks) and stumbling distance from some great bars. Plenty of security too.
The only slight downside is the beach. Unfortunately you can't swim in it. There is a rock wall about 250 metres from shore blocking the water. You need to go further down the beach to have a swim or jump in one of the ute taxis (normal taxis wayyy too expensive) to Lamai or Choeng Mon for a decent beach swim.
Breakfast was fine, plenty of options and the rooms were very comfortable. I stayed in an upstairs room just before the garden pool, might of been a deluxe room(?) and it was fine and well serviced.
Simply put, I had a great time here and wouldn't hesitate to stay here again.

Dear franz w,

Thanks for visiting Samui and staying with us at Chaweng Regent!

I am glad you enjoyed your holiday; unfortunately while you were in Samui, the tide was out during the daytime which may make the sea appear not clean, however, Chaweng is a stunnign beach with an amazing surf full of holiday makers having the time of their lives this morning.

Come again and check it out!

Until then, be well.

Our travel agent had booked us this hotel and had told us it was a 5 star resort. I would agree with this in terms of the beautiful gardens and layout of the resort however I was disappointed with the room. We had only booked the most basic room however our 1st night was spent in a room that I'm positive was not even an advertised room type! I even checked the brochure from reception and the photos just didn't match. The following night we were moved and upgraded however again this was a let down. Everything just seemed old and used, even the hairdryer had turned an off cream colour and looked as if it was from the 80s! The location was right on the main road with the beach on the other side of resort- so easy access to all restaurants and shops in the area. Found the noise from planes to be so close and guests in the hotel down the beach were letting off fireworks each night which sounded like gunshots all throughout the night! Halfway through our stay the resort was overbooked and they asked if we would like to move to the sister resort The Melati- best move of our whole trip! Separate review written however The Melati is true luxury and the real Koh Samui.

Dear leeroseadams,

Thank you for booking your holidays with us at Chaweng Regent.

I am sorry to hear that you were disappointed with the Superior Bungalow; having said that, you will be happy to now that we are now remodeling them to fit more with the overall feel of Chaweng Regent thanks to valuable comments such as yours.

As for operation equipment, such as the hairdryer, I will examine this. Honestly I tend to not wish to change usable items, as long as they have full functionality, as when we go, costs go up and thus prices. But if it needs replaced, it will be.

Again, thank you and I am happy to had the opportunity to experience not only Chaweng Regent, but Melati.

We have just returned from 11 days in a Spa Villa, we were a little dissappointented that we (via our travel agent) had requested a Spa Villa as close to the Pool as possible, we were given the Spa Villa Furtherest away from the Pool! If we new we were going to be stuck back here, we would have considered upgrading to a Suite. 2nd gripe, the spa was lovely, but kept filling up with leaves and twigs from the trees above so each time we used it we had to clean it out first and when we did use it, it took 1 1/2 hours to empty. Complimentary Toileteries wer not replaced as they were used, I ended up having to give housekeeping a list (12 things on list) of things they had neglected, Bathroom and spa doors were left open so we would return to a room full of mozzies that came in through the outdoor spa area.
Air Cond was very Noisy, some power points in our room didnt work, bedside lamp on bendy cord kept falling out of wall.
Pools were lovely but I strongly suggest that they make the Garden Pool with swim up bar "Adults Only", it was very hard to relax with excited kids running around jumping in and out of pool, and taking up all the seats at the bar etc.
Breakie was good, staff were great, location was Fantastic. We had an amazing meal at The Red Snapper on our last night, whcih has left a wonderful lasting memory.
One other little gripe I had, The resort was made aware that we were celebrating our 1st Wedding Aniversery during our stay, but this was not aknowledged, I have seen and heard of others who have had their beds scattered in petals, lovely towels folded into swans and just a little nice gesture to make them feel special, but we got Nothing!!
We will return to Koh Samui, but not sure if we would stay here again (maybe if kids were banned from one of the pools we might) if we were to stay again, it would be purely for reason of it being in a PERFECT location!

Dear jeknaki,

Thank you for spending your valuable holiday with us at Chaweng Regent Beach Resort.

While we take ever request into consideration, unfortunately we cannot meet them all; however while your Spa Villa may have been furthest from the pool, that is no more than 50 meters - still acceptable I think.

What is not acceptable is the housekeeping and engineering you experienced. Your comments have already been summarized and will be used this week to brief, educate and reprimand the team accordingly.

As for the note of your anniversary, I have yet to find the details in your booking, but have contacted the 3rd party who arranged your booking for more information and ultimately improvement.

Thanks again and hope to welcome you for your 2nd anniversary if not before.

I have just come back from spending 5 nights at this hotel. We loved our stay in Smaui. We had a nice room overlooking the pool which was spacious and very clean.

The hotel had a great location 5 minute walk from the louder area of chewang so you had the peace and quiet but not too far away to need a cab or get tired of the walk. The bar prices were not too bad they had a hapy hour on I think until 7pm so it was 241 cocktails around 300 bhat. Outside they are about 100 each during happy hour.

We didnt eat at the hotel as we only had to walk 5 mins to get the same pad thai for half the price but if you like to eat at the pool again the prices are not too bad as hotel prices go.

The beach was lovely and you could always find sunbeds on the beach and at the pool. It was a mixture of couples and families but we didnt have a problem with kids hijacking the pool.

If your getting a taxi to the aiport ask one of the cabs on the street to come and pick you up rather then the 300bhat per person the hotel asks, you'll save yourself half the money!

breakfast was a mixture of western and oriental dishes which we enjoyed.

Overall I would definitely recommend this hotel.

Room Tip: We had a poolview room which was between the beach and the lobby and it was great.

Dear Londonmerchants,

Thank you for joining us at Chaweng Regent and for your feedback!

I shall share your positive comments with the team and agree with you about pricing; there are different levels of quality and various price points available in Thailand, a great part of the charm of a Thai holiday. I am happy to know you experienced that.

Have a great year and do visit us again!
