“Peace and tranquility in Costa Rica while being pampered”
Reviewed 2 December 2015 for a stay in November 2015

13 of my immediate and extended family traveled to Costa Rica for the first time to a third world Country. WOW. From the accommodations to the service, to the food and views. This cannot be beat. You are secluded on a mountain top retreat and not surrounded by other tourist with incredible views. With a beach only a 15 minute walk down, 25 minute walk up! :)

Incredible coordination for activities which included spa days at the house, day long sailboat cruise with snorkeling and set set views, zip lining, horse back riding and scuba diving no more than an hour away. For a large gathering, skip the resort and enjoy the people and culture which is Costa Rica.

We went with the all inclusive package. By the time we returned to the states, I had forgotten how to open a beer. Everything was exceptional.

“Where you will learn to enjoy and live Costa Rican Pura Vida style. Perfect in every way”

I am beyond happy I made the choice to have my wedding and honeymoon here. This place is a true jem. From owner who was so accommodating and helpful with suggesting the best wedding planner Barbara Broutin to staffing the villas with the most sincere, genuine, friendly, and efficient help of Abraham the houseboy/server/bartender/driver/adviser, to the fabulous cook Carmen, and the amazingly detailed cleaner Maria. I am a pretty anal person and I am impressed. No detail was over looked and the pure kindness exudes from the staff and practically all of Ticos we've encountered truly taught us the meaning of Pura Vida. We really miss the sounds of costa rica... morning rising to beautiful birds, howler monkeys, clean fresh air, serenity, and the staff always available to your every request with a "much gusto" because they really do believe it is their pleasure to serve you. Abraham was amazing and you must try his margaritas! We thought he managed the place for how he is so efficient and honest and keeps everything running so well and his english is very good. There was also a guy who comes daily to clean the pools and do other maintenance. All of our friends and family was welcomed and had a terrific time no matter how long or little they stayed. Everyone was comfortable and well taken care of in every way. It is hot, so wear easy comfortable clothes which is laundered everyday for you if you leave it on the floor. the room all have private bathroom and ac. The bed and sheets are very comfortable. The rooms are pretty well situated so you do not feel on top of each other. Allen Murillo is the travel/transport/excursions liaison recommended to us who was also fabulous. He only does private tours and is very accommodating. We did not want to feel over obligated so just booked or asked him to put together execrations to whoever and whatever we wanted to do one or two days ahead. You must visit Tabacon Grand Spa Thermal Resort. The 3 hrs ride is worth it. The hot spring is magically healing and relaxing. ultimate luxurious. All of their foods especially the fresh fruits and pico de gallo is to die for. I recommend going to get the gelato in coco beach (in town at bottom of hill) and Vandara hot springs. best ice cream/gelato i ever tasted. At Vandara, you can horseback ride, zip lines, water slide, hot spring, but the best part is their completely organic fully sustainable farm food. The beef tenderloin is the most amazing thing we have ever tasted. The quality of the beef is better than Kobe. We are truly grateful to have had chance to stay here and have our wedding here. Everyone made iit effortless in planning and even when the wind blew away the marquis flowers 3 times before it was secured, impending storm that turn out to be sprinkles but producing the most amazing clouds and sunset. Everyone made sure our wedding was more than we can ever imagine and hoped for. Costa Rica is an amazing country, Villa Puesta Del Sol is only 30 mins ride from airport with amazing views of pacific ocean and you will be served by the best staff. Stay here and you will never regret it. You might only regret why not stay longer like us.

“One of THE most memorable experiences of my life”

We had heard about this villa from a friend who had gone the previous summer with a very large family group. It sounded too good to be true....but it wasn't! There are nonstop 3 hour flights from Houston, straight to the Liberia airport. I would recommend NOT renting a car. It's not easy to find your way around and you won't need it! The property owners were impressively friendly and helpful. The property itself was super clean and well kept. Each room was spacious, well-appointed with its own private bathroom, and icy cold with comfy beds, producing a wonderful night's sleep each and every night. The pool was large and well kept, with a waterfall at one end and a hot tub at the other. It stood between the spacious porch where we enjoyed our home cooked meals and a large semicircular seating area overlooking the Pacific Ocean. What a breathtaking view! The best part of all was the excellent staff, headed up by Abraham, who was so kind and so eager to make our vacation the best it could be. There were several cooks and several maids who came daily and laundered whatever items you left for them. When we arrived from the airport (about a half hour drive in a comfortable air conditioned van) Abraham met us with a tray of a blend of fresh fruit smoothies and some freshly made guacamole and pico de gallo with chips. He also served each and every homemade meal on the spacious porch. He also goes above and beyond, as I was speared in the heel by a sting ray. He drove straight down to the beach and got my husband and I up to a local Doctor for treatment. (Note: the pain is excruciating but after putting the affected area in the hot tub, the pain will subside within two hours. Best to get antibiotics from the Doctor!) He will even drive you down to the little village for special items or movie rentals. In the summer, their low season, the sun goes down quite early (6:30 pm) and quite rapidly/spectacularly, so bring plenty of DVD's from home to watch in the evening. There is likely to be a heavy but short rainshower, and you will be visited by crabs, raccoons and geckos, among other wildlife, such as interesting birds. On your first full day there, an entertaining and informative man will join you as you eat your breakfast and describe all the excursions that are available for you. They were too hard to resist and each one enjoyable. He guaranteed plenty of fish during the deep sea fishing excursion and it was an understatement! Our guys brought in sailfish, mahi, mahi and others hand over fist. The sailfish are let go, but the guides will prepare the other fillets to be cooked that evening by the villa staff. Most excursions are paid for up front, that first day. Credit cards are accepted but in some instances you will need cash so be sure to bring plenty and keep that in your room's safe, along with your passport and other valuables. Another very professional lady will also come and offer spa services in your room. I chose a facial and massage, while my SIL chose to add a manicure and pedicure. At the end of your stay, the property manage will come with envelopes and recommend what to tip each staff member. In relation to the services provided, this was a small sum overall. Honestly, this vacation was truly that....plenty of fun things to do and plenty of relaxing time, with Abraham there to respond to your every request. We started missing Abraham the minute we left, and still do. I highly recommend Villa Puesta del Sol!
