...you learn a little bit about the wine production process. Not a great deal, and you don't get to see very much. But our guide for the visit was an old man named 'Shalom' (really). He was knowledgeable and very entertaining in his manner.

In the tasting room we got to try only three wines, of which one was a desert wine (unfortunately). I would have preferred the opportunity to try more - but it was a short visit and oriented to a large group. However, the most useful part of the visit was that we learned about the the four brands that are produced by this collective winery - from finest to cheapest - Yarden, Gamla, Gilgal, and Hermon. Having seen and tried several such wines in restaurants, it was useful to understand that they form a hierarchy, with the first two aged in French oak barrels (Yarden wines for longer), Gilgal in American oak, and Hermon in stainless steel.

We bought some wine at the shop: 2 bottles of Gamla Chardonnay for 95 Sheckels. An hour later in the gift shop of another site we saw the same wine at 90 Sheckels for just one bottle!

We stopped here for a tour of the winery. The people who work here are very friendly and knowledgeable. I learned more about wine than I could have every imagined. The tour is quite interesting even if you are not a wine-drinker. At the end of the tour, we were able to taste three different kinds of wine. We were even given a souvenir bottle opener.

I've been to this winery 2 times and both were great. The start of the tour and then wine tasting. If you are doing it as a small group or couple - should be a nice way to meet other people. Must save a place in advance and ask about other groups and languages the groups are attending and just join one (if you are not a lot of people).

The location itself is beautiful

Me and my colleagues had a very interesting guided tour, short but comprehensive. We tasted three wines and we had a complementary bottle opener. One our is enough to complete the tour and do some shopping.
