Wonderful place to stay, owners are very friendly, motel has very comfortable beds, new tv, available high speed and coffee!

Next door ( in walking distance ) is the Pepper Mill for lunch or supper. We had supper there and the food was great!

Nice affordable getaway, great place to stay with a close by place for a good meal.

I forgot to mention, there is a beautiful beach within walking distance, was a real diamond in the rough!!!!

Due to last-minute reservations, had to change rooms for a 2-night stay. Had the cabin first night - very private, small kitchenette, twin over double bunk and a regular double/queen? bed. Very clean, satellite tv, 5mbps internet. 2nd night, had a room in the motel, good lighting, two twin beds and clean, relatively modern bathroom and a small fridge.
Dora was very helpful with suggestions for restaurants in the area. Would definitely return if in the area again.

The owners are the caretakers and they live on site. That makes a big difference since they take pride in their motel. While not right ON the water, it is a hundred yards or so away. The lake is fairly shallow for some distance off shore, so kids could play there safely. The AC, little fridge, etc was appreciated. WiFi was down while we were there but they were getting it attended to. It is on a lower level than the road so you need to watch for it.

My wife and I stayed here for one night, expecting a old style motel with dated interior and limited amenities. However, it was much nicer than expected and included;
an updated spotless room (Satelite flat-screen TV; mini i-pod Dock; Air Conditioning; coffee maker); access to a communal lounge/kitchen; walking distance to a small beach/cove on 12-Mile lake; very hospitable owners at a fair rate.

My husband and I and another couple stayed at The Highlands Motel, Minden for two nights in early July. What a delightful experience! It's a small family-run place with a very welcoming atmosphere. The owners definitely went out of their way to make us feel welcome, comfortable, and happy, even going so far as to light a nightly campfire for guests to sit around and enjoy. Guests were friendly too and we chatted with people from many parts of Ontario. We really enjoyed sitting outside in the large Muskoka chairs outside our rooms.
The rooms are smallish but in excellent repair, very clean and nicely decorated. We were very comfortable there.
Another great feature of this place is a large chalet-style building which is available for guests to enjoy at any time. It features a large great room, a full kitchen, table and chairs where guests can sit to enjoy meals or play cards, TV, music system, games, comfy couches and easy - chairs etc. What a nice place to use in any season!
This motel is located a few minutes outside Minden and the location is perfect as there is a small beach on a lake just a few minute walk from the motel and excellent restaurants nearby too.
We really enjoyed our stay at the Highlands Motel in Minden and look forward to returning,

Room Tip: This is a small motel with only 7 rooms so all would be great. Some rooms have two single beds and...
