“We loved it here, it's an absolute gem”
Reviewed 24 March 2016 for a stay in March 2016

We were so glad we chose this property to stay for our first trip to Malta. Alfie is a great host, the property is great and the location is great.
The information we received from Alfie prior to our stay was excellent. We were picked up from the Airport by Alfie and also taken back at the end of our stay. I would recommend that you take advantage of this as it's a great deal.

The house is situated on the historic Archbishop Street. The Archbishop's Palace is at the end of the street. About 70 metres away is the the square with several nice bars and restaurants, wine shop etc. In the mornings the veg shop and butcher is open. The Bus to Valetta goes from the square, or you can walk down to the harbour and get the 3 cities ferry. The location is brilliant!

Up the street from the square and towards the property is the Inquisitors Palace which you can look around. It also houses the tourist information office.

Inside the property, you come directly in to the comfortable sitting room, which I would imagine is a wonderful cool haven on a hot Malta day. The decoration is Traditional Maltese but with Wifi and a Flat Screen T.V. ! Electricity is metered. Aflie had already put 10 euros in for us. We didn't use all of it!

Through into the well appointed and roomy Kitchen, it has everything that you need for cooking anything up to a full homestyle dinner. Including a freezer! There are several food shops very near to the property. We also shopped a bit further away at the small supermarket at the end of Dock 1. the road is called Xatt Ta Bormila.

The bedroom is comfortable, plenty of hanging space great hair dryer! Iron and board. There's a washing machine too, so no need to overpack! There are 2 bathrooms, great for us we had a "his" and "hers".

The roof terrace was an useful towel drying facility for us. At the height of summer I'm sure it's a lovely cool space to take a glass of something chilled in the evening and maybe breakfast.

We had a great time, travelled widely on the excellent and cheap Malta Buses. Everybody was so kind to us. Thanks you Malta and thank you especially to Alfie who treated us like family.

“Location, location, location!”

Alfie's Place @ the Alley turned out to be one of the best vacation rentals we've ever had. The apartment was just as described and had everything in it that you would find in a normal home. There was ample space for my husband and I and our daughter who stayed for the the first of the two weeks we were there.

The location is ideal as it is only a couple of minutes walk and you are down at the beautiful marina with it's many pubs and restaurants as well as the outstanding view of Senglea and Fort St. Anthony. It is also only a few minutes to Victory Square which is surrounded by pubs and restaurants but also several small stores to pick up groceries, water, fresh vegetables, electronics etc. It is also where you pick up the city bus which is very user friendly and highly recommended.

As for Alfie, the owner, he was more than we expected. He is a very kind, generous, helpful man. For a small fee he picked the three of us up at the airport and pointed out and explained things we passed on the drive to the apartment. He parked in Victory Square and pointed out where the little shops were and places to pick up a meal before we walked to the apartment. He showed us around the apartment explaining everything in detail. We were welcomed with fresh fruit sitting on the kitchen table waiting as well as some bread, milk, ham and cheese to tide us over until we could get some food (stores are closed on Sunday). He had brochures and bus and ferry schedules ready for us to use.

Our first day there we discovered the upstairs toilet wasn't flushing so I sent him an email. Alfie immediately called and came by the next day. As it turned out, it was just a matter of wobbling the handle and all was good but he was good enough to take the time to help us out immediately. As it turns out, lots of toilet handles in Malta need extra wobbling!

We took him up on his offer to print out our boarding passes and when he picked up our daughter to take her back to the airport, he came to the door with a typical Maltese honey ring for us. He also called at 5am to be sure we were up and then arrived 10 minutes later.

Just a reminder that this is a self catering rental so if you're looking to sit, relax and watch the world go by, then this is probably not the place for you. But if you're looking for a place that feels like home and is close to the many beautiful sites Malta has to offer, then this place is perfect. Sitting directly across from the Inquisitors Palace and living among the locals and their rich history is an experience we will treasure for a long time.

“Good holiday accomodation”
Reviewed 12 February 2016 for a stay in February 2016

We had previously visited Malta before during Carnival and on these occasions had stayed in the Sliema area. Decided to try something different and we were not disappointed with Alfies Place.
House was ideally situated for our needs ( 4 adults) and was an ideal base for day trips etc.
We picked up a hire car at the Airport to get us around during the week we were there. In addition there is a regular ferry service from the 3 cities to Valetta with the price also including the lift to upper Barrakka gardens. Also noted frequent and plentiful bus services to get you around from the three cities.
Alfie was very welcoming to us and could not be faulted. Good holiday.

“A unique terraced house in historical Burgu”
Reviewed 11 February 2016 for a stay in January 2016

We were met by the owner who immediately made us feel very welcome and driving us to the house pointed out places of interest we may want to visit. We were charmed by the area we had chosen and could not find fault with the house even a welcome fruit bowl and basic breakfast items to set us up after a long journey.
Being only a few minutes away from a spectacular harbour with good restaurants and a regular ferry to the capital Valletta where you can get buses to any part of the island only costing €1.50 on any length journey even to the ferry over to Gozo highly recommended for a day trip!
If you want something in a truly unique area full of history and amazing architecture we highly recommend Alfie's Alley.
Again , thank you Alfie for being such a great host. We will return!!!
