“Well appointed cozy cottages right by the loch”
Reviewed 5 July 2017 for a stay in May 2017

The wooden cottages are well appointed with a nice porch facing the loch providing great views. There is a room with bunk beds which was wonderful for the kids. Kitchen is well equipped. There is also a sauna inside the cottage that was a plus. The loch is right in front of you although you may have to find a trail to get down.

Few areas that can be improved:
- The wifi didn't work so if staying connected is important to you, this may be an inconvenience.
- One of the bedrooms was missing a heater which we realized late so ensure you check it at the time of checking in
- The names of the cottages are a big inconspicuous so a map from the reception would be helpful...we had to check out several cottages to figure out which one was ours.

“Basic lodge, beautiful views”
Reviewed 20 April 2016 for a stay in April 2016

The lodge is basic, but has everything you need. Unfortunately, the beds were a bit too short for us (tall Dutchies ;-) ). The views and surroundings are stunning.

“Beautiful lodge in a beautiful location”
Reviewed 27 December 2015 for a stay in December 2015

We stayed in this lodge over Christmas period, three nights to be exact. The lodge was easy to find, as it stands on the Portsonachan hotel's grounds. Just find the hotel to get the key and instructions to the lodge. The hotel, first of all, is full of lovely staff who are more than eager to help. The food in the restaurant is fairly priced and very nice indeed. There is a free WiFi and a bar with live music (at least was on two of the nights we stayed there).
The lodge is a five minute walk away from the hotel. The road leading up to it is a single track but it wasn't a problem. Lodge was beautiful, clean and very warm. The heating is excellent and the water was hot. Like VERY hot. It wasn't drinkable though, but the hotel staff give out free water bottles once a day (they give out more if required).
The lodge has three bedrooms, all of which very nice. One has bunk beds, one has two single beds and the third one has a double bed. There is also a sofa bed in the living room, so it sleeps eight. The bathroom was nice and bath was lovely. Has to be said, although it has two bathrooms, one of them is attached to the sauna and is utterly freezing so we never used it. The other bathroom, where the bath is, was warm and situated by all the bedrooms. The sauna was really nice and looked promising but unfortunately we never got it to rise to good temperatures - only got up to fifty degrees (which isn't even close to what was expected, with me being Finnish and all). We had a guy come in from the hotel to have a look at it, but he couldn't work it out either. Shame. The shower in the coldef bathroom didn't work either, but the guy seemingly got it sorted out. However, when we then tried it, it didn't heat up again.
Another problem we had was over housekeeping, we couldn't get any bin bags from the hotel and what with it being Christmas time, all the outside bins were rammed full. Total pain. Bring your own bin bags.
To recap, we really enjoyed our stay here. The cabin is lovely, cosy and romantic. We had a relaxing break. Some probems, particularly disappointed by the sauna as it was the main reason we booked into this particular cabin.
