“A special piece of Italy”
Reviewed 10 September 2009 for a stay in September 2009

We have just spent a fabulous two weeks in Le Marche and were lucky enough to spend 10 days at Caserma Carina, what a gem. We usually spend our holiday staying a few days at a lot of places and were a little apprehensive about getting itchy feet staying for so long in one place.....we should not have worried. Our apartment was great, spacious, tastefully furnisherd and well equipped - and oh what a joy - air conditioning. When we could tear ourselves away from the lovely pool, immaculate gardens and beautiful views, we found plenty to keep us occupied in the surrounding area and Dean and Lesley, being the perfect hosts, freely shared their extensive knowledge of the area, with ideas of where to go and where to dine, ensuring the perfect holiday. Neighbour Louisa's delivery of Italian home cooking, BBQ'ing al fresco and wine tasting at the local vineyard were an added bonus. We found the best gelato at the local abbey, followed closely by Zanzibar in nearby Mogliano. Ten days was not enough - we will be back!

“Heavenly”
Reviewed 8 September 2009 for a stay in September 2009

Descending down to the property the setting is beautiful.

Feeling tired and in need of rest we couldn’t have chosen a better place

We stayed in the Girasole apartment which was great as it allowed us access to the terrace so that we could have breakfast al fresco with views of the mountains. The rest of the day was taken up with nothing more strenuous than lazing by the pool. Bliss

You will need a car to get to the local village and supermarket although you can get to a very nice family restaurant albeit a good 10 minute up hill walk – it is worth it.

Dean and Lesley are delightful, I wish them every success they deserve it

“The place to get away from it all and relax”
Reviewed 8 September 2009 for a stay in August 2009

We found the Caserma Carina on the Alistair Sawday guide and were immediately attracted by the fact that you could do a cooking lesson whilst you were there. It was only when we arrived did we realise how stunning the place is, with beautiful sweeping views across the valley that included mountains and hilltop villages. Dean and Lesley immediately made us feel welcome, and within minutes of our arrival our shoulders had dropped and we had a glass of wine in our hands.

We ended up having half a day cooking course with a fantastic local chef and cooked some amazing food that fed up for the next few days. This was really a special part of the trip and would recommend to those that enjoy the cuisine of Italy and the region to try it out. It was very hands on, and the chef that taught us was brilliant.

Our gastronomic experience didn't end there. Dean arranged for us to go wine tasting at the local vineyard and where we were able to sample the local wines.

This was the first time we have been to Le Marche and were blown away by how beautiful and relaxing it was. It is full of old, hilltop towns that have fantastic local restaurants that produce fantastic local cuisine. My wife and I have spent time in Tuscany and would say this region beats it as it doesn't have the number of tourists and so is by far a more relaxing trip.

If you are looking a relaxing trip in a stunning setting with fantastic accommodation, this place is hard to beat.

“Our most relaxing holiday for years”
Reviewed 14 August 2009 for a stay in August 2009

We went on this holiday expecting to spend a week exploring Le Marche, but found we could not tear ourselves away from Caserma Carina. Our two boys even turned down offers of kayaking and go-carting, preferring to stay by the pool. Dean and Lesley are genuinely happy to put every effort into helping you unwind and have the perfect holiday - nothing was too much trouble and they anticipated our needs even before we knew we had them! For example, we had booked tickets for the opera festival in Macerata and Dean told us exactly where to park and booked a table in a lovely restaurant for us. Lavanda apartment was much more spacious than it looked on the web site and easily accommodated two extra beds for large teenage boys. The air conditioning was one of the features that attracted us and it certainly helped us get a good night's sleep. The house is beautifully restored and furnished, the pool is lovely and the views are spectacular, but it is the warmth of the welcome from Dean and Lesley that make Caserma Carina such a very special place.

“Caserma Carina - My Idea of Heaven!”
Reviewed 6 August 2009 for a stay in July 2009

This must rate as our best holiday ever. At Caserma Carina we received a wonderfully warm welcome from our hosts, Dean and Lesley, who couldn't do enough to ensure we had the most relaxing two weeks. The apartment was top class, from the high quality furniture and fittings to the marvellously cool air conditioning (an absolute 'must' when stopping in this part of Italy during Summer!). The beautiful, clean pool, set in the immaculate gardens with its terrific views of the distant Sibillini mountains was a big hit with our teenage sons. The region offers so much to do and see, from the pretty old town of Mogliano (great little cafes and bars- Angels was our favourite) a short walk away, to the historic city of Macerata and the cool trips into the Sibillini, where lunch at the excellent value agriturismo was a highlight- two weeks is not enough. This is 'real' Italy; forget overpriced and over commercialised Tuscany and Umbria. Even the coast is less than an hour away at Porto San Giorgio-great fish restaurants.
