It was an interesting activity to do while in Sohra. It’s a short area under the cave that is open to public so it took us less than 15 minutes to complete. Some of the sections in the cave are really narrow and we had to bend, crawl, slide to cross-over. Not recommended for very small kids.

Amazing natural cave formations inside huge rocks...which tends to become narrow to norrower...at one point u may even have to crawl to move ahead in the cave...
U will find the cave wet almost 365 days...
The best time to visit this cave is during the monsoon season...

Mawsmai Cave near Sohra was listed in our must visit place during our NE road Trip and so we were there...excited because this would be our first time cave experience....We found out that this is only the cave around which is fully lighted and is among the very few which is opened for a tourist. It was amazing to see the impressive formation of large passages and chambers...the formation of the rock is something which gave us a surprise because this kind of formation of rock in different shapes and sizes was also new to us....
Overall: The amazing and magnificent natural wonder.

Mawsmai Cave is by far the most popular caves in Meghalaya, which is home to some mysterious & amazing caves. Amongst the most easily accessible of the many caves in Cherrapunji, Mawsmai Cave is an entryway to the world of underground adventure. It is simple enough to navigate, and you can manage without a guide. One of the most popular places to visit in Cherrapunji,
Located about 6 km away from the main town & shaded under a thick canopy of trees, the cave welcomes you with a yawning entrance and tapers down a bit further ahead.
The cave walls can get too narrow for two to walk abreast, so large groups should be avoided, The well lit caves are a view to behold when the glistening lights fall on the limestone to create countless hues and patterns of light .
Trekking inside is slightly tough, but after entering, one realizes it’s worth visiting.
If you've only just ventured into the world of cave exploration, Mawsmai Cave is an ideal place to start.

Nice caves. The passage is in some parts low and or small. In one passage you need hands and feet. It is fun to do and see.
And yes, do bring torches. Sometimes the floor is also a bit wet.
