The most exciting place in Gwalior is the huge fort perked on a sandy stone. One can get a bird's eye view of the entire city .Gwalior fortress stands on a 100 mtrs high sand stone rock. The most picturesque in North India, the fort measures 2.5 km in length and about 200 to 725 mtrs in width. To reach the fort one has to go on foot or drive through winding roads. Needless to say we drove up all the way to the fort.It was amazing.
It has number of structures like Mansingh palace, Gurugovind singh Gurudwara where Gurugivind Singh was held captive, Sahsra Bahu temple to name a few. But the most captivating is the Mansingh Palace.

It left me awestruck in the first visit itself. It offers unique combination of the past and preserved. The fort is magnificient offering a peep into history. Guides are well trained and must to take.
Apart from the main attraction there is a beautiful temple, ruins to watch and a gurudwara which also is a history in itself.
I strongly recomment you to take a full day out and end the tour with the 'Light and Sound' show which is a must see. (Hindi followed by English; each 45 Min) which will summarise your tryst. It starts at 1930 in winters and 2030 in summers.
with a great connectivity from delhi, this is a NO-MISS, absolutely.

Gwalior fort is one two main attractions of the Gwalior city. Is an interesting weekend alternative. Located on the hill right in the middle of the city, a few kilometres form the railway station. You can easily spend there a few hours visiting places, ruins and temples (Hindu and Sikh). It is worth hiring a local guide to show you around.
