Lavish buffet breakfasts, with Indian and western options. Good bakery products. Very good staff, always ready to do something special to make your dining experience better. The chef is very willing to make a dish just to your taste. Lunch and dinner are a la carte, but there is a good choice. Lovely sit out area also, ideal in good weather.

We just had a beautiful 3 week holiday in northern India, incredible places to visit from Sikkim to Kolkata, Varanasi, Khajuraho, Orchha, Gwalior and Agra. We also had good food throughout, but the best was at the Silver Spoon at the Taj Hotel in Gwalior. We are not easy to please but this was one of the best food we have ever had (and we are not young too). Most of the Indian dishes have very strong spicy taste but here we had the most incredible food with the most incredible taste!
On the first evening we arrived early, there were not many people, Mr Gouniyal, the chef, was talking with someone and soon after he came to our table to give some advice. Everything was so good that we decided to come back for dinner the following evening. Mr Gouniyal saw us and came to greet us. We asked him to choose for us, my husband was very keen to try "street food" but he did not dare to eat it on the street!
What we had both evenings was so good that it is not easy to describe. It was a great surprise of tasteful food that is not overpowered by chilly, so that you can enjoy the flavour of different ingredients, carefully mixed to please your taste. In our Italian culture food is a pleasure and it was a great pleasure dining at the Silver Spoon and meeting Mr Gouniyal.
I need to add that the ambience is very charming, small and elegant, and service is perfect. The manager of the service is a very friendly helpful man from Kolkata, I apologise as I forgot his name..!!!
Last but not least, if you think this place is going to cost a fortune you will be surprised: you can dine in this very elegant restaurant eating incredible food at the same price of many Indian hotel restaurants. Incredible but true!
If you are in Gwalior it is a must to dine at the Silver Spoon.

We had ample chance to indulge ourselves in the Silver Saloon during our stay in the Usha Kiran Palace.
The place is well maintained, with the option of sitting outside near the lawn, and the entire area is very well maintained
The Breakfast spread is adequate without being overly splurged. And provides enough option to suit your palate. And just in case you would like to have anything additional, just ask Chef Rakesh or any one his team member, He will be more than happy to oblige.
The specialities of the area (local cuisines with the Nepalese influence) must be tried, and we had on two different occasions the Lamb Barbat and the Chara (Chicken) Tandruk. Unique tastes, and finger-lickingly good. And all will be served with a very prompt service. The dessert section is also very good, and must be tried.
The most memorable dinner was also arranged by Chef Rakesh where the entire menu was selected by him and prepared pretty well.

The Chef at this restaurant really knows what he's doing. Not only were his Indian dishes great, but also his Thai Green curry was delicious. The ambience is romantic and there is live classical music in the evenings. Overall we had a great experience there.
