My husband and I had a very nice stay at Vanilla Hotel in Mykonos last May. The location is perfect: close to some restaurants, shops, bike rental and two beautiful beaches. The weather was windy, but Ornos beach is so repaired, that we could have a swim. 50 meters from the hotel, there is the bus stop to get Mykonos town (5-10 min), but you can reach the town on foot too (20 min). The hotel is nice: the common areas are cosy and clean; the room is simple, but really clean, they wash the floor every single day. The breakfast is rich: juice, coffee, milk, tea, bread, jam, butter, croissants, cheese, ham etc. The staff is really nice and helpful. Special thanks to the owner, Kate and Jenny. Thinking of you especially in these days… Miss you Jenny… Francesca & Massimo

Trip Advisor in my opinion is far too negative and I feel the people who write on here are more likely to write about negative experiences rather than positive ones. Do not even bother looking at it to book your trip and you'll have a far better experience.

This hotel is lovely and the staff are amazing.

I am writing this for the kind lady on reception who had to endure a mouthful from a customer complaining about irrelevant things that didn't even need mentioning.

I would hate potential holiday makers to be put off by any comments that they may make.
People make the WiFi connection seem like a HUGE problem... May I remind you that you're ON HOLIDAY (????!!!) Get outside!! Enjoy yourselves, see the sights, eat lovely food, meet lovely people, get a tan? Don't at 12 o'clock start complaining about the WiFi when it is 30 degrees outside! It makes me really angry that people are that rude to people whose country they are visitors. (Its incredibly embarrassing!)
If you're looking for perfect fibre optic internet connection look elsewhere, don't even look to Mykonos, stay out of Greece even. Just stay at home.
For anyone else who goes on holiday to actually have a nice time, this is the perfect place to be!
Mykonos island is not England, be thankful and accept it for what it is and you'll have a truly amazing time. Everyone at the hotel allowed us to get the most out of our holiday and told us where all of the best places were.

I wish you all the best for the future :)

The location was amazing. A 4 minute walk to Ornos beach and 5 minute bus ride into town (Fabrika). Bus fare was 1.80 Euros, but waiting for the bus was annoying even though it was not off putting.

Now the hotel itself:

Pros:
1. Again location was great.

2. Breakfast was good (same thing ever day but good).

Cons:
1. Staff was somewhat friendly and helpful. Just don't bombard them with questions because they can get sarcastic and give you short answer.

2. Beds were extremely HARD AND SQUEAKY.

3. Bathroom was tiny, especially the shower stall. The curtain clinged to you with every movement you made and water would soaked the bathroom floor, no matter how careful you showered.

4. Cleaning crew made some noise very early in the morning.

5. WIFI WAS AWFUL!!! AWFUL!! AWFUL!!! The only place it seemed to work well was out near the pool area. Every where else was slow or non existent. I am not exaggerating on this! I feel they should invest on a better internet provider because everytime you complain or just ask what's wrong with the wifi to the staff they would say "sorry, but that's the service we have and it always goes on and off when it wants to." Well that response alone is horrible and unprofessional.

Pros:
Great location - short walk to Ornos beach, which is lovely. Also within short walking distance to bus stop and food stores. Quiet too. Lovely looking lobby, reception and dining area. Helpful staff.

Cons:
Room was not as expected - very sparse. Beds were hard and uncomfortable and pillows were awful (extremely thin and hard). Bathroom was tiny with a tinier shower, and shower curtain that clings to you as you move. Wi-Fi barely worked.

Overall, I'd definitely stay again in Ornos, but not in this hotel as it was not a comfortable stay and not worth the money. However, if it's just somewhere to sleep and you're not a fussy bed or bathroom person, go for it.

General tips:
On Ornos beach, you can take water taxis to the other beaches for 6 euros return - hopping around to any number of beaches. The actual boat trip is really beautiful in itself.

Don't eat at the Ornos beach restaurants - overpriced and the food is not good.

Absolutely fabulous hotel. Room fantastic. Staff couldn't have been any more friendly. Unfortunately I was on crutches and they couldn't have been any more helpful. Definitely booking again for same time next year. !!!
