Mostly good

3.0 of 5 bubblesReviewed 28 Oct 2024
This place punches well above its weight for 3 star accomodation. The rooms and facilities are basic but clean and tidy. Staff are very friendly and helpful. Gorgeous location and views. The only let down was the menu. We ate there the first night and the marlin was caked in burnt overly salty spice mix and basically inedible even after scraping it all off. We ate at other places from that point but decided to give it another go on our last night. My partner’s battered fish was covered in chili oil which wasn’t mention on the menu board, and my chicken burger was an over seasoned chicken mince patty that looked like it was cooked from frozen. Really disappointing. I would stay here again but avoid the restaurant. This would have been a 4 star review if it wasn’t for the food.

We stayed here for 1 week in October 24'. I was a little concerned with some negative reviews but was pleasantly surprised. We loved every minute. The pool facilities need an upgrade, but the matinance staff are doing upgrades all the time (new owners seem to be trying to improve facilities). The food was great, and neither of us had a bad meal in the 7 days we were there. I thought the menu was reasonably priced, although drinks a little bit pricier. But you're on holiday. There are plenty of things to do every day if you wish. Right next door is a local village that you may get invited to visit it's lovely and the people are so friendly. One thing noted was that it is a fair distance from anywhere so if you wish to sightsee or get out and about hire a car (access road had been upgraded) we loved our week here and can't wait to come back. You definitely leave as friends.

Room tip: Make sure to stop by a supermarket to grab snacks/day to day things. Hire a car if you want to get out and about

Very disappointed with our stay. Location was perfect however meals very limited and nothing around to eat elsewhere as place is 5 kms down the end of a dirt road.

Staff don’t help with bags. Staff are not very friendly and we weren’t made feel very welcome.

Issue with no towels one day and we could not swim or shower.

Set meals not go for people with dietary requirements.

Lots of stair and not ideal for older people.

Excellent views, great setup, fair room rates and finally a Spa that's operational. It is exactly as shown in the pictures.

However the location is a bit remote as its very distant from centre areas. Internet only works in the main dining area. Rooms are good and neat with no TV making it great for people who want to relax and take a break from the gadgets. The resort has daily activities lined up for the day which is displayed in the reception area.

Food is very costly, drinks are reasonable and the staff are on Fiji time so get ready to experience a few delays.

We visited here with family and the stay was amazing. Despite no internet and TV, we were not bored as the resort offered good entertainment and engagement activities.

Definitely recommending this if you are looking for a place to take a break from your busy lifestyle.

We spent 6 nights here during March 2024. The Bure they gave us was almost on the beach though the WiFi wasn’t strong enough to reach our room.
Breakfast was included in our package but was only continental. We ate out there every night during our stay even though we had a car. This was because the access road to the resort was the worst road I had ever driven along plus the nearest restaurant was over an hours drive away.
The menu selection was very sparse but enough for our four nights there.
Staff were very friendly accommodating though when we visited there were only four of us in the whole resort.
Take plenty of insect repellent with you as even though we sprayed ourselves with this we still got bitten multiple times.

Room tip: Best get a taxi there because access road is a big challenge

We felt so warmly welcomed and looked after during our week at Crusoes. The team made us feel like family. Fijian hospitality is up there with the best we have experienced. Our Bure was spacious, with a lovely view out to the reef. There’s a mini beach as well which not all places on the coast offer. The gardens are lush and really well maintained. Crusoes Retreat offers a smaller, more personal resort experience, it’s not the newest and glossiest but we’re not into the big chain resorts which could be anywhere. If you’re looking for a beautiful location, close connection to the neighbouring village, warm and welcoming local hosts, and to experience Fiji, you will find this at Cruoses. Bula vinaka! Thank you to the team for showing Feij and I a very special time :)

Room tip: Resort is down a 1km (ish) access road from main rd, glad we took a few snacks to supplement resort menu
