“JUST RETURNED FROM A 4 DAY BREAK”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 7 April 2012

Cricket St Thomas is in a very beautiful ,peaceful location.Reception check in procedure very well organised & quickly efficient, "Greeters" on hand to help you orientate, the complex is very large .Tip : Park in main car park, check in then move your vehicle to nearer your room.
Room was a Superior Room, very well appointed in the walled garden are with small patio.
Breakfast- buffet style very good but seating rather crowded, again excellent waiting staff very helpful; dinner again buffet fairly standard food but nicely prepared. Had dinner on 2 nights at their Italian Restaurant, supplement of £10 per person, worth doing although the food is rather unadventurous, standard Italian well prepared & flavoursome. Waiting staff varied between poor & excellent, front house manager rather patronising & Hi de Hi , interestingly all waiting staff are British whilst the majority in the main dinning area are mostly European!!
The old house is very peaceful, ideal to sit & read the papers or chill for a light lunch, gardens look good must be pretty spectacular in summer.
would highly recommend for a quiet break , didn't get involved with the house entertainment so can't comment.

Room Tip: Check out where your room will be , lots of walking involved.

Just returned from a fabulous weekend. Room excellent, food first class. Staff exceptionally friendly and helpful. Went on 'lambing experience' absolutely superb. Only downside was entertainment. This particular weekend no star attractions. Entertainment very slow and rather old fashioned. Didn't bother second night. However this didn't detract from a very successful, well run formula from Warners.

As with most Warner Hotels this was a very good place to visit. A superb old house with all of the facilities of a expected of a 4* hotel. Good service, entertainment and food all come as standard. The only reason I feel I can't give this hotel a 5 star rating is that unfortunately Warners have been hand tied on building and so the hotel spreads along a very long way. If you are unfortunate to be in one of the "outlying" rooms you could end up with a 5 minute walk to get from your room to the restaurant or to the historic house where quite a lot happens. Conversely if you stay in the Historic house or close by you have the same walk to the leisure centre and "experience village". All in though a very good hotel.

Lovely historic hotel situated in a peaceful spot with numerous walks around it's excellent grounds.. Unfortunately, the hotel is let down by it's somwhat limited menu.
Having on arrival booked a table for 8pm we were quickly advised that we must arrive in the restaurant before this time. It soon became very clear that this was in fact the last time food would be served. The menu is very limited and is based on a carvery with two other dishes available that don't aspire to be a 4* menu. Chef's special dessert of the day consists of a different frozen dessert each day which would be readily available from any freezer cabinet. The vegetarian meals leave a lot to be desired. You are quickly rushed through your meal and on our first day we were surprised to find that whilst finishing our wine at 8.55pm we were the only ones left in the restaurant with staff scuttling around hurriedly setting up for breakfast. This did not make for the relaxing 'eating out' enjoyment you normally have from a weekend away.
The entertainment proved to be the saviour of the weekend.
BUT in truth we feel that we do not wish to have another Warner's experience!

Room Tip: Signature rooms are no better than a standard 4* hotel room
